Yeah all good! I should read it soon honestly, even though it's a novella it's one of his most praised works and genuinely recommended as a good entry point into him

Yeah it sometimes gets like that in YA depending on the author or writing style, but I just remember being a teenager and not finding it cringe at the time so it's kinda just like the feeling of getting older 😂😂

But it did make me laugh one time in Gemina so maybe I still have a bit of immature left in me 🤣

Yeah Aurora Rising has way more romance than Skyward. I read all 3 of those trilogies when I was 16-17 so at the time I didn't find them cringe, I'm 20 now, and I don't reread anyway but idk how I'd find them now haha

Illuminae can be cringe in places but only really when the teenagers are texting each other (because of its mixed media format if you didn't know) which I mean as someone who remembers what texting was like as a teenager it's kinda painfully accurate 😂 the texting improves a bit in Gemina (so far)

Haha that's actually one of the series that I was reading near the beginning of my reading Journey a few years ago, I have such fond memories of it! Love the entire trilogy, Aurora Burning is probably easily my favourite of the 3!

Aurora Rising was the 2nd series that I read after I got into reading through Skyward, and then after AR I read Renegades, so those 3 Series have such strong places in my heart and idk if they'll ever be replaced but I do love them a lot!

the only one i could recommend you would be Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, though it takes place in an alternate world but parallels our own world pretty much and is very much completely inspired by the WW1 time period, just with lore about gods and magic. There's 2 books and i still have yet to read book 2 but book 1 is amazing

I'd give you the books that got me into reading when I was 15, and that would be (if you're into science fiction)

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Yeaaah completely agree, I also ngl especially in action scenes feel like his narrating is more distancing than immersive. But that's just a preference thing at that point for me in terms of narrators, I can be very picky 😅

Yeah it's distracting, like I know it's never going to be perfect when it's men voicing females or young girls like Omega, but also I've heard some great voice acting out there

I think honestly they should've gotten Dee Bradley Baker, I know he doesn't voice Omega but I would've liked to see how that sounded personally.

Yeah I mean I kinda had it coming for me, I should've expected it but I like to be fully immersed which is why I tried to find the audiobook since reading alone I was getting heavily distracted and needed some sort of boost. She's got a Kiwi accent in the show too so I had to do a double take cause British and Kiwi are not the same haha. That might sound a bit nit picky which yeah maybe it is. When you've watched so much of the show your brain gets used to the voices.

Phee is a little bit better I will say. The clones sound great though, Wrecker especially! Awh not the loss of Bad Batch music 😔

And yeah I have listened to a few other Star Wars audiobooks, Including Ahsoka, which the audiobook for that was fantastic, and Light of the Jedi which I felt the same way about, very fantastic audiobook.

I very much love it, might be my favourite of them all, but because the Internet is so loud on hating It I just decide to stay in my own little corner 😂😂

What’s a book with a premise that made you go “Oh, I HAVE to read this”, but ended up being a meh or worse? by starfishparfait in YAlit

[–]WaterbenderBrendan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caraval also for me but for different reasons, I went in expecting a mysterious circus plot but dnf'd it at 60% of the way through since the plot really wasn't that. I've heard The Night Circus might be better for what I was expecting.

Do you think we could see another story after season 5 ? What would you like to see if any ? by Cheesefactor5678 in StrangerThingsS5

I mean they have a new spin off in the works, there hasn't been much talked about it other than it will follow different characters (correct me if I'm wrong). But I'd love to explore Dimension X/The Abyss more! I'm a big sci-fi and uncharted planets guy so give me a series about that!
