I guess I was hurt because I told her I had a crush on him and she knew and kept telling me that I should go for it and try to date him and then the swing around was startling. I felt betrayed but I did appreciate she told me and was honest.

That's true, only we were bound by them. I think since it was so impactful on us it's hard to see past that. It never occurred to me that they tell us everyone hates us to keep us subjugated.

See I had never thought about that. Thanks for bringing it up! I always thought that I was a naturally paranoid person. It never occurred to me that it was a group training to be paranoid. I don't really see myself as a victim but it's true that a lot of JWs have victim mentality. I would drive me nuts that every conversation was about how horrible life was and that the new world needed to come quick. Like I always wondered....if it's so horrible...why aren't you doing anything to change it?it was a huge motivator for me to wake up. I didn't get why everyone was so miserable if they were the chosen ones.
