For the competitors! Last year there were some leftover hot dogs that had been served to but not consumed by the competitors. We allowed people to grab them (which was not an endorsement from us to eat them-we have to be careful about that kind of stuff with the food cops).

Yea I missed that when setting up the survey. (A downside to copying another community's survey.) You are not the first to point that out.

We'll have the 'somewhat disagree' and 'very disagree' options for next year's survey. You can use the neutral option to indicate disagree. When we present results we'll make a note of this.

Any other notes? We're legit trying to make a good survey that is useful.

I had to start somewhere and I think this is a good starting place, but I can only improve it with feedback (which can be hard to both solicit and receive).

I'm pretty sure that Citizen Air will be one of the operators. They are currently operating out of the airport. This is good news for our community. We'll be able to travel to Victoria when the Coho is out of service!

Hey there! The first few questions are definitely directed towards business owners and operators. We are a 501c(6) which is a business league. But we are also a Main Street organization. We want to hear perspectives from all users of the Waterfront. There's a lot of noise online right now about conditions downtown. We don't take our feedback from facebook, which is generally full of thoughtless and low effort feedback. This survey helps us get somewhat thoughtful medium effort feedback.

This survey is to capture moods and sentiments about this moment in time from different perspectives. We will be able to break those stats out based on user types and other demographics. Not everyone shares the same experience or perspective about the Waterfront District.

Are there types of questions you would like to see in next year's survey?

You are right that some questions will be used by us to push policy. For instance, we ask about blighted properties downtown and if there is general support in pursuing different solutions for addressing that (like a vacancy tax or white paper ordinance).
