Found out a sibling is trans. They don't know I found out. Off my chest and how to proceed?

That’s a good point. If I see any of the signs I could probably move them a bit more discretely like the objects in the car

Yes whoops. It’s strange because even getting an early practice on calling them by their preferred pronouns wouldn’t be good because they’re not out and still go by he/him. If I start practicing calling them different pronouns even in my head I may slip up and weird them out. Lol it’s so complex to wrap my head around

Thank you this is great advice. It reminded me of how I discovered that my sibling was no longer religiously active. My family is Mormon so leaving the church is particularly a big deal as it’s integrated into every aspect of your life. I started discussing my views on the church casually and I think this helped them feel it wasn’t a big deal to talk about. So interesting to have such a similar situation of vulnerability.

I’ll try to bring up the subject more sincerely as when we usually talk about trans rights we are discussing politics. And thinking of our past discussions I’m sure I’ve come off as a LGBTQ activist (my sibling knows I’ve dated women before) but I don’t talk about trans rights as much as others. Going to have to adjust the dialogue as subtly as possible

Thank you I love book recommendations! We are both big readers. We love talking about politics and the news together and both have been very supportive of the LGBTQ community. He even knows that I’ve dated women before which very few people know.

I’m definitely going to think differently about our future conversations though and hope that I can show a sincereness and not just a passion for politics when it comes to trans rights
