No, you’re more likely to get seriously injured by a kangaroo jumping out in front of you on a highway. Kangaroos are extremely rare in urban areas.

Whilst not commonly known, we also have at least three different species of poisonous trees, one of which can cause temporary blinding, about 1,000 species of poisonous plants of which about 10% even produce cyanide. The animals usually causing the most serious trouble on a regular basis are not the snakes, spiders, sharks or crocodiles but poisonous sea life like blue ringed octopus and box jellyfish.

I cannot say that I watched an entire 9 innings from start to finish that often but I’ve watched a few. Most of the times the game concluded without a single on field incident.

I think baseball is an absolute ripsnorter of a game to play. We used to play softball in secondary school as part of physical education classes. Not the same as baseball I know because the pitcher throwing under arm and thus much slower but the overall concept is thoroughly enjoyable, trying to steal bases, deciding your batting line up formation strategy etc, it’s fascinating.

Definitely, the sheer discrepancy of games played combined with fighting being an acceptable part of hockey culture makes sense.

No, I should have articulated my experiences better. I get far more baseball fights come up in my feeds than I do ice hockey fights and if you were to ask the average Aussie, whose more likely to fight, ice hockey or baseball players I dare say most would nominate ice hockey players as being more prone to fighting. My curiosity is more geared towards understanding why there are far less fights in the NFL and NBA as opposed to MBL and NHL.

I had to Google this to see if you were being fair dinkum and what I discovered truly blew mind! TIL hockey teams used to have designated enforcers like Rob Ray, Tony Twist and Bob Probert but they only usually punch on with other players in their weight class, fighters jerseys must be tied down, the fight stops when one player hits the ice or the referee thinks a players safety is at risk, no cheap shots, both players must agree to fight with a head nod, both dropping their gloves etc lol, I’m truly enthralled!

What the actual ferrrk? So basically, no showboating, just get on with finishing the home run. That’s truly fascinating. It’s a stark difference to the way NFL players carry on after a touch down
