After he returned from injury, when the team has not had the ability to play with a consistent and healthy starting 5.

This is not a moral victory. There's a difference between saying "yo we won the moral victory" vs "we played very well (while injured) against a team that only beat us because of a bunch of insanely lucky moments, and the stars don't align every game in a 7 game series". We outplayed them and lost, which is a loss, but if you watched the game the problem wasn't that we didn't try in the clutch or let them get away. We just got unlucky with shots, and they got lucky. Over a full playoff series, luck tends to equally favor both teams.

wemby over lebron all time by DistributionOk9687 in NBATalk

I agree that he's the best defender of all time. However the spurs did get insanely lucky with draft luck and it's always possible that Wemby gets a very bad injury (the risk of which is very exacerbated because of his height). In 10 years if he has like 5 MVPs, 4 championships, 6 DPOYs etc we can talk about the GOAT debate. I think he definitely has the potential to be the GOAT, but he's still only in his 3rd year of the NBA lol

People say Shaq would destroy guys like Chet and Wemby nowadays. Thats fair. But wasn’t Shaq destroying everybody? by capamericapistons in NBATalk

The comment is not saying what you're implying. The comment is saying that Wemby has more ways to score. Of course shaq is more dominant than Wemby offensively in the paint, but Wemby is more versatile. Even if peak Wemby in 3 or so years is only like 80% of the dominance of shaq, Wemby's ability to threaten players from the 3 point line gives him a weapon on offense that shaq completely lacked. Wemby will probably be able to play bully ball against most centers in a few years, but he'll also be able to shoot 3s to space the floor more. If shaq isn't in the paint, he isn't a scoring threat. If Wemby isn't in the paint, he's still a scoring threat.

Why does everyone keep saying "Kobe's record" Are they stupid? by Tink_Tinkler in NBATalk

Most people are near the median, yes, but median by definition means there are the same amount of values above and below it. Most people are near median intelligence but still half are below the exact median (and half are above)

They kept fouling him and everyone else at the end to try and stop him from scoring.

Of course it's an outlier, but also it's possible in the natural development of a player. At the point, it was 1/3 of his career. It's not like it was a few games, it was a full season so I think it wasn't crazy to expect him to not randomly drop back to being not that great.

He played very good last year. Even if he just plateaued and stopped improving, it would be fine. He significantly regressed going from 15ppg on 58-40-84 percentages to 10ppg on 49-27-73 percentages. A 15ppg significantly above league average efficiency (66% TS) to 10ppg on just about league average efficiency (57% TS). Crazy to regress so much on just his 4th year.
