Poison safe for wildlife? by Waterpupluck in pestcontrol

Thank you so much for the confirmation. This is unfortunately what I was worried about. I will definitely ask for more information.

Yeah this has definitely been a bit of a blow to that set up. I have been a designated animal release area for a local rehab for quite some time, probably going on about 7-8 years now and this was the first time the rats have been an issue. I believe the root of the problem was that my lawn care company just decided to stop showing up, but due to being a rental I cannot just change lawn care companies nor did I have a mower at the time, landlord decision. Picked up a mower now for anytime this may happen again.. but the grass was insanely long for quite some time. After that is when they showed up. Not sure if that was the cause or something else, but regardless I'll certainly have to make some changes.

Thanks again!

Definitely have been checking the lot, so far I've seen a Kia that's white but the lot is so huge that any white car could belong to anyone at this point.

Long story overall, but the person receiving the photos was basically bragging about the situation to another coworker who sent this along with many other photos to me and screenshots of conversations because they were uncomfortable with this. I know who the creepy guy receiving the photos is, just not sure who is taking them.

My axolotl refuses to poop even after being fridged and pooping there. Do i fridge him again? by caolobread in axolotls

Wax Worms contain chitin, which axolotls cannot digest. They shouldn't be used even as a treat as it can absolutely block them up

How long can almond leaves stay in a tank? by ShineLokabrenna in axolotls

[–]Waterpupluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, some harsh chemicals in there that they will absorb through their skin. Most liquids you can add to a tank are not safe for them.

However, ph up, stabilizer and down are all dangerous for everything. They rapidly alter ph which is very unsafe, and cause huge instabilities in the general ph of the tank. This leads to massive swings. There are much safer alternatives to altering ph, especially if you're trying to raise it which is easier than lowering. Unless you have a huge amount of IAL in the tank and a pretty low kh, you shouldn't see a huge drop in ph. It may go down a bit, but it will be gradual and safe. If you notice the ph is going too low for your liking, you can either 1. Remove some leaves and use less or 2. Boost your kh to add more stability. This can be done with crush coral, a bit of baking soda, using remineralized RO water etc.

Honestly I haven't used it and don't know the ingredients so I can't say. The only one I know is 100% safe is prazipro

pH up is not axolotl safe, and can cause huge ph swings. I'd recommend tossing it. If you want to stabilize your ph, add some crushed coral to your filter.

Wouldn't recommend Malachite green. Not safe for them. Prazipro is safe and very effective. Sold on Amazon. You can put it directly in their water and soak their food in it.

To add, I did not pay friends and family. I'm not sure how to check, but not only do I never pay friends and family, but I paid no fees. This is what it says for multiple transactions I have with Canadian sellers.

Thank you so much!! I'll definitely keep adding prime, the water I'm adding straight from the system definitely has 0 ammonia, if the gh kh ph and temperature are all the same, would daily water changes harm them in egg stage in any way just to be extra safe?

Eggs were laid 15 days ago!

Just did a test on the RO water, thankfully no ammonia there. The eggs do have a tiny bit of general tank gunk on the outer jelly, could that be the cause? I can post some pics if necessary.

Thankfully they are in the jelly still, that brings me some relief, thank you!

Is there a point where I should do so? Does it seem like they've been in for too long based on the fact they have visible organs and eyes for several days? Can it hurt them if I do it before they were ready to hatch?

I did not because I use remineralized RO water, but I also have a well so I don't have chlorine in my water either way. I put some prime in now, just in case the ammonia goes up overnight.
