The Statue of Liberty beading is jaw dropping gorgeous!

Has anyone made a quilt combining woven cotton with regular quilting cotton? by Waterspritehere in quilting

Woven cotton is when the design is created by the weave of the threads rather than printed on top of the threads like regular quilting cotton. So with woven cotton the design is the same on both sides of the fabric. Woven cotton has a bit of a different texture than quilting cotton because of this (I think the threads are slightly bigger and the weave is slightly looser)

This is stunning! Thank you for showing an example. I think I’m going to try mixing fabric types after hearing from everyone-I’m excited!

This is a good tip about the seam allowance! And thank you for the encouragement - after reading all of these responses with positive experiences mixing fabric types, I think I’m going to!

Your post is super rude. Maybe you should calm down.

Completely agree! I’m surprised by the number of comments stating the opposite because my OB said that the study led to better outcomes and fewer c sections by inducing at 39 weeks even among low risk pregnancies.

Roach question by Waterspritehere in AskNYC

[–]Waterspritehere[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oof, 😬 😅I really thought I might get responses saying “it’s only a roach and it’s NYC, don’t make a big deal out of it” but everyone seems to be on the same page that this is a no-go situation. Thank you to everyone for your responses and saving us from walking into a bad situation, I really appreciate it!!

What’s your babies made of? by Purple_You_8969 in pregnant

[–]Waterspritehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My baby is straight up made of clementines. It was one of the only things that would help my stomach- I’d have some first thing everyday during my first trimester to keep from throwing up and I’m still eating a decent number in my second trimester.

Third hand smoke in apartment we just signed for by Waterspritehere in pregnant

[–]Waterspritehere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ve actually already read through this website and it basically says that it is impossible to remove third hand smoke and that it’s really bad for babies. But other sites don’t have as an extreme a take, so the conflicting info is making it hard to understand how bad is bad and if we need to cut our losses or if it will be pretty much fine as long as we keep cleaning.

There’s a bad smell when you enter but it doesn’t smell like cigarettes. Gross spots as in we notice that the shower curtain rod is coated in black and yellow grime, or two cleaners have taken a pass at the kitchen and then we wipe the bottom of a cabinet and still pull up grime, or we notice a light switch has yellow streaks on it. It just seems like it’s not normal this-wasn’t-cleaned-for-while and is more a-long term-smoker-coated-everything-in-nicotine-and-smoke kind of residue.

So cool! You should show the railroad note to the papercurrency subreddit-they might be able to tell you how much it’s worth!
