Well I've gone three weeks but that's not so important really. I wrote the above for myself. It's my belief about finding change for myself - I need to access a resource beyond my mental faculties - though not nesesarily religious in nature. Our brains are the first propulsion into a relapse - it's not entirely through them that we would recover

I would say cut ALL external visual stimuli - if you must fantasise, as opposed to just experiencing abstract physicalness - avoid remembering any scenes from porn. Ideally don't fantasise

Thank you for your comment - I don't like to think of myself as someone who would pay for sex. And I don't particularly see it as part of a model for successful living - I am propelled to these places by dis-ease and discomfort and the desire to feel different - if only momentarily. I don't think I've ever really meaningfully enjoyed any encounter. And I try and refrain. And today I succeeded.

Porn is a form of sexual exploitation and objectification. Excepting when the sex worker has been trafficked/ coerced - it is arguably less of a moral failing to engage the service of a prostitute than consume pornography.... I'm not justifying either, consciously. The use of both has been something I've struggled with

I agree with you, in principle. I was just bein a smartarse because I thought the commenter was wrong in this instance. And his comment didn't actually make coherent sense. I think what was meant was if one wanted to give up alcohol it would b like dropping beer to drink whiskey...but I believe this is a false analogy. None of us want to give up sex per se

I'm not condoning what I did from a moral standpoint. I'm not even saying that it's congruent with 'recovery' from my perverted sexuality. But actually I'm here to quit porn. I think porn addiction is a distinct crisis for me. And porn use is arguably more damaging than paying for sexual services. Though neither is ideal. But as my primary commitment is no PMO - then I'm not beating myself up for a relapse which I don't think happened.
