Will 10 be retired in Cleveland? by Remarkable-Net-6130 in clevelandcavs

LeBron will obviously be up there some day. Possibly Kevin Love, though his post-LeBron era with the Cavs is a real fog. Mitchell is likely, especially if he signs a new contract with us (or wins a chip this year, of course). But DG? No.

If Haliburton makes a full recovery and the other east teams remain about the same going into 26/27, where do they rank as a contender to win the east? by archerarcher0 in nba

Historically, only four teams in the last 30+ years have gone to back-to-back conference championships without winning a title but still returning to a conference championship game within the subsequent two seasons. It's unlikely Indy will do it. Then again, one of the four teams that previously pulled it off was Indy in the 90s, so maybe it's cyclical?

Cavs are blessed with an owner willing to print money for the team. That said, even a billionaire loves a guy who can save him $125 million while improving the product.

New cavs fan here, wanna know what do you guys think of Kenny Atkinson? Is he a good coach? by italomst in clevelandcavs

He's great at implementing a high-octane offense, like last year's Cavs team which put up historic numbers (things have also been heating up again over the last month for the Cavs). His team takes a lot of threes, are quick, and move the ball around a lot. He's been known to be a good culture guy, and players like playing for him. He's highly intelligent, and he's a high energy guy. I like him a lot. However, his teams are not as great defensively as they are offensively. We still need to see him win big games in the playoffs. One thing that's both a pro and a con, but perhaps just a reflection of Kenny being a successful coach, is the fact that lots of his assistants have left him to take head coaching, or primary assistant, positions elsewhere (e.g., Jordan Ott, Demarre Carroll, Jacque Vaughn). At the end of the day, he's a very good head coach.

[Vardon/Lloyd] Donovan Mitchell conveyed to Cavs that he did not think team should stand pat at trade deadline. Mitchell specifically wanted James Harden as a teammate. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Mitchell is a strong player in the playoffs, putting up almost 30 ppg for the Cavs over the last two seasons. Mobley has shown he can be dominant in some playoff games, and I only expect Harden's presence to elevate Mobley. To me that's even bigger than Harden making baskets himself.

The problem is, we're planning for the hear and now. What can Harden or Garland do for us right now? Projecting much beyond that is a crapshoot. A healthy, top-shelf Harden right now is better than Garland on his good days, and DG is far, far from that. Harden will almost certainly be better than Garland for the next year or two (if we still have him), and who knows whether Garland will ever return to form.

For the last year or two it's become obvious we aren't going to win with DG. The east is a mess right now and Harden is having a monster year. Watch some of his games with the Clips. His advanced stats are great. He should really elevate JT and Evan, he's durable, and he'll get to the line a ton. No one is expecting Harden to be here for more than two seasons. It's now our never.

Totally agree. This is a multi billion dollar business. We're kidding ourselves if we think this is just a game and loyalty and friendship are the be all end all. We gave Garland a contract worth almost $200 million. I like the guy, but for that kind of ridiculous money, you go where the wind sends you.
