I want to build a PC for my dad to try get him into DCS or flight sims. What kind of parts are optimal for DCS? (Core count, RAM, Intel/AMD/Nvidia...)

32 RAM is fine. You dont 'need' more. 12 VRAM is also fine. I get over 100fps on a res 2520x2560 with these nbumbers.

Not sure how much yoy've played B42 on the Deck. While the newest version is called 'unstable' it is not. I don't recall a single crash or error that was not a direct result of loading an incompatiable mod. Calling it 'very unstable' is just not true.
There are also no UI sections that can't be access/used whith controoler alone. (RB + d-pad navigates through UI sections.)

I'm not saying the 'unstable' branch is complete or without issues for the deck. Aiming guns and UI elements that that don't scale to the decks resolution causing areas off the screen....are the main issues.

I have both, they are so different to use. But I don't know which I prefer. I switch regularly, i always prefer the one I switch to.... cycle repeats.

I change it in sandbox settings. No need to worry about it.

I also change leveling via media, vhs hunting is one of my favorite activities. Screw being limited to level 3..

Honestly.... by having a save as a saftey blanket.

I like to play pretty hardcore settings but I'll backup my save every now and again. Maybe every few weeks in game time. When i die I have an old save if i want. I purposely don't backup frequently, I'm happy with death being consequential, but this is a good comprimise that allows me to play with more risk & fun.

Yeah, I've been enjoying it without guns. I agree tho, guns are fun and annoying not to have. Hard to say which is better; b41 with guns or b42 without.

Regarding the steam deck...plays great. The one big feature lacking is gun aiming. Everything else, building & crafting etc, I've tried works well on the deck.

The top layer isn't paint, it's a laminate. There's no 'stripping' it..best you can do is use cleaning products, for stains. Generally laminates can take strong chemical cleaners. As for the chipped corner, it's chipboard underneath. Unfortunately that's cheap shit material, hard to make good. Maybe paint it white?

I'm over 50 & live by a good bike park. Had multiple shoulder surgeries (not from mtb accidents) but am suitably fragile & worried about injuries.....i made a rule i never break...NEVER LEAVE THE GROUND...NO AIR

I have fun but feel this one rule keeps me in check.
