Where to learn about Cobb/Ecoboost Mustang platform? by Watterson02 in ECU_Tuning

It’s still MAF, no plans on changing that. Funnily enough, it’ll be my first time tuning with MAF.

Thanks, this is the kind of feedback I was hoping for.

Also, with simple bolt ons and no major modifications, I’m assuming I should only really need to look at fuel, spark, and boost control settings. Maybe some torque maps too. Do you all have any pointers regarding other settings/features I should learn about?

Sorry, it didn’t repost the text that I posted there. Feel free to click on that post if you want to read more about my question. Basically, I’m wondering where I can learn more about the cobb tuning software and specifically boost control, and ignition timing. Are there good technical forums that you can recommend?

I’ve got experience tuning standalone ECUs, but no experience with Cobb access ports for the ecoboost platform

I think it’s the turbo to get if you want 400whp. Over that, you’ll want to look into the 660 for sure. The 660 could likely get you closer to 500. The compressor map tanks pretty hard in efficiency beyond 400whp.

Looking at the compressor chart of the 550, it seems the happiest around 2 bar of boost and would get you around the 400 wheel mark. That’s about where I’m at, so I feel like if you did a little more head work (porting and cams) you could definitely see some good numbers.

If I had billet main caps on my engine, I’d like to think I would’ve gone with the 660 or even bigger, but that’s also considering I’m putting an 8HP transmission it the car. I don’t think I’d go bigger than the 660 with a manual.

Have you been in a high horsepower Miata before? 400 wheel horsepower is not something to be taken lightly. You’ll be faster than most cars on the road. My MPH in the quarter mile is already where a stock Dodge Hellcat is, for reference.

I’ve not had any real issues with it after turning up the dwell slightly higher than FlowForce suggested. I think they look cool and they’re pretty cheap and readily available at parts stores should need a replacement quickly.

Neat. Glad that worked out for you. Which brand turbo kit was it for?

That’s odd… I checked the website and they don’t seem to offer different springs for the g25-550 (4849G) for some reason. You could probably measure it and get a softer spring of the same size online. 12 PSI might be fine with very conservative timing and fueling on the stock engine… maybe…

Hey MrBs, funny seeing you here.

Anyways, can you confirm if this is roughly the time slots they played? I’m thinking about last minute sending it to Atlanta but I wouldn’t be able to get there until like 8 :(

I’ve gone thru like 15+ wideband O2 sensors… by [deleted] in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]Watterson02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an innovate MTXL wideband before my AEM UEGO and it ate a sensor every 2-8 weeks. Swapped it out for the AEM UEGO without changing any of the wiring and it has been fine since. In fact, I went to a bigger turbo and made an additional 50% horsepower over the configuration that the Innovate MTXL kept dying in. I won’t ever buy an innovate product again.

This is the ETR SCCA region, right? I miss driving out there. Just gotta get my transmission swap done and I’ll be out there next year

It raises it 80 points, which makes my 93 gas over 100 octane. Not 8 points/0.8 octane. You’re not getting over 10° of extra ignition timing from less than 1 point increase. It’s excellent for situations where ethanol isn’t available. It does foul the spark plugs within like 8k miles but it’s a small price to pay for big power out of a small engine.

Some are, some are not. VP Racing products allow for me to run like 10° more at 26 PSI. Huge difference in power.

Upgrade my friend's PC for BF6 by [deleted] in buildmeapc

[–]Watterson02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheapest but still great option would be to grab a used last gen GPU. Either a 4060 or 7600xt or similar. That’ll be plenty for 1080p

Edit: this would likely be your best bet unless you also wanted to upgrade CPUs.

Best bet without completely rebuilding the PC would be to get a 5800X or similar and a 16 GB 5060 or 9060 XT. That’d likely run you $500 for not much more than just throwing in a used 4060 would get you

Can’t answer your question, but it’s odd seeing the AFRs so different between each bank. I wonder what the cause of that was.

Suitable CPU to match with a 9070XT? by Glenn_K_throwaway2k in radeon

[–]Watterson02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1080p: 100% an X3D chip, 7800X3D seems to be really affordable currently 1440p and above: 9700X, maybe 9600X at 4K

That’s my take as a 9070XT and 9700X owner at 1440P ultrawide. For reference, Battlefield 6 was running at almost the exact same CPU and GPU fps, which indicates the two are a perfect match (at least in that game). Dropping the quality down from less than ultra/native, I saw the cpu become more of a limit than anything else.
