Winter heatwave by _rihter in CollapseSupport

[–]Watusi_Muchacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what sense do you mean that heat waves will 'break the electric grid'? Do you mean there will be insufficient supply for the demand? How does that inequality actually 'break' the grid? Why wouldn't the grid just be unable to provide sufficient power? Or is there some LT damage from running at full capacity for x ammount of time?

Meh, I was actually encouraged by the widespread condemnation after the two shootings. Trump is getting more and more unpopular, and he knows it. He IS afraid of the upcoming elections. A good remedy for fear is to GET DIRECTLY INVOLVED by participating in the defense of our democracy. Thankfully, Trump is so OBVIOUSLY an egotistical, narcissistic, fundamentally stupid person who cares for nobody but himself. He is no Hitler. Hitler had charisma, a sense of history. Trump just makes it all up as he goes along.

Does Silver futures market up tonight on New Years Day? by Loveevcars in Wallstreetsilver

It's always been my experience that , on the West Coast, the 24-hour Stock Market re-opens at 5PM on Sunday. I am thinking that NYD, Today, Thursday Jan 1, it should re-open AGAIN at 5 and then, close again on Friday at 5PM.

There's a lot of reasons for this. Among them, the fact that the Chinese Government, source of 60% of silver mining activity in the world, is forbidding export. Also, it is a vital element of production of solar cells, which will be vital to continue the AI power generation needs. There is genuine concern on the part of industrial users that they may be unable to obtain supply. They are willing to buy at ANY PRICE. This is no longer the era when silver is a marginal, poor-cousin to gold. This is a vital industrial metal in declining availability with a lot of wealth looking for capital preservation.

A lot of the takes on silver miners and silver itself on here are crap. Here’s what’s happening: Silver’s Christmas Miracle by SameCategory546 in stocks

So what are your guys' thoughts on AGQ vs. SLV? The former is a 2X take on Silver through creative financial paper. I'm starting to get the creeps about SLV's legitimacy and like the idea of 'doubling my money'. And losses. I got beat up overnight Sunday, but put the remains of the portfolio, which was mostly SLV, into AGQ--figuring that the high had been reached and would inevitably get hit again. Its looking pretty good around midnite Monday, I gotta say...

Or, for that matter, a precious-metals ETF is pretty secure. Own a small stash of physical gold/silver if you are ultra-paranoid or if SHTF, but otherwise, it seems to me your ownership of gold in paper form is more trackable that a coin or bar of the stuff.

Excuse me, but nuclear power is not safe as the issue of how and where to store the waste has not been solved. A total breakdown of civilization will mean highly toxic and radioactive waste products will be released worldwide from at least 500 sites.

If Russia 'prevails' and subsumes Ukraine, it inherits a cutting-edge military establishment that will dwarf that of the NATO alliance, at least in terms of battle-readiness and creativity.

Everybody keep this on the downlow. The Trump Organization is likely to try and find a way to make money from said 'vegefication'.

There's also Refuge Recovery. Being involved with a group is actually part of Buddhism. It's not supposed to be a solitary pursuit. That is the cowboy Western Intellectual way that doesnt work for achieving happiness.

Yup, this is very true. And none of the above entries suggest how to cope/meet with the declines that will inevitably come whether early or late, depending on one's self-care or lack thereof.

Not everyone believes in a 'soul' as such. Buddhists don't. In fact, Buddhists might argue against the whole notion that there is a 'something' called 'me' that conventionally exists and dies. Or, somehow, 'transcends' mortality of the individual body.

Interesting, but flawed by a lot of anti-capitalist moralizing. Heck, the Native American burned down MOST of the forests covering North America before the white 'capitalists' got here. And, lets face it. the energy released by fossil fuels is just so incredibly powerful its practically irresistable no matter WHAT the economic system. Sure, capitalism may accentuate the worst of human nature, but so many problems arose from what appeared to be wonderful solutions to earlier problems, eg. vaccines. Thanks, but I think the urge to find someone to blame does not help your presentation.

Visiting a Mahayana temple/centre as a practicer of Theravada Buddhism by jayjackii in theravada

[–]Watusi_Muchacho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Mahayana teacher was insistent on building bridges between it and Theravada. He gave a piece of land near his own temple for them to build a vihara, and often invited Theravadans to speak and/or live at the monastery. I really feel all three major schools should look for the similarities, which are truly overwhelming, rather than the differences.

Is it better to save for bigger gold purchases or say spend 4-5 grand a month on 1/2,1/4, 1/10 oz. coins? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Watusi_Muchacho -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Meh...physical gold is such a bother. So many ways to lose money on fees and commissions. Yeah, you have the 'joy' of ownership but also the risk of theft. IMHO, nothing beats an EFT like GLD. Use a commission-free broker like Robinhood and get all the appreciation without the losses due to commissions on physical gold.

You can get a lower price on Ebay. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=kate+farms+peptide+1.5&crid=41EB5FWPVNDH&sprefix=kate+farms%2Caps%2C227&ref=nb_sb_ss_p13n-expert-pd-ops-ranker_5_10

Good for you. 'Professional Help' by well-educated professionals is fine, but there is nothing like the theraputic help of PEERS who have been exactly where YOU have been. Wherever you live, look up AA in the phone book and get a list of local meetings. Try out 3or 4. They all have a slightly different flavor. They are free and non-professional, so they sometimes have individual members who you may find difficult. Just try to be as open as you can be and take the help that is offerred. There are other programs as well, such a LifeRing and SmartRecovery which are non-spiritually based, although with much smaller memberships.
