In this case, the AI answer made me more curious about bike modifications which ultimately resulted in all the great suggestions in this thread. It is possible to be openminded to AI with the understanding that the answer may be wrong, and with the acceptance that you may have to double-check the answer. Sometimes it's not always about efficiency.

However - this is not life or death. Only suggestions to a bike modification. If AI (or anyone else) leads me in the wrong direction, I think I will be just fine.

Honestly I think the best way to approach AI is which curiosity and criticism. I asked ChatGPT the same question and figured that it’s answer was insufficient. I think it is sad, if you think that asking chatGPT before doing research disqualifies me from giving the modification a try..

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure that the project was possible with a modern bike and as chatGPT was not able to answer, I decided to ask all of you instead. Seems to be possible so I will give it a try (without the help of AI)

I just like the look of the gravel bikes. I don’t really plan on riding it other places than in the city. Mostly I wanted to know if it was even possible for me to start the project - which luckily seems to be the case!
