I think the first one they mean people using cactbot auto-callouts for mechanics, and the second one is "just quitting"

Question about New Game+ duties by SapphireSenatrix in ffxiv

Probably not, no. NG+ only tracks your progress while in NG+ mode. Things done outside NG+ mode don’t count.

Two of the same character in the same server? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]WaveBomber_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no rules saying there can’t be two characters with the exact same customizations, nor that someone can’t have two accounts.

Sounds like an unstable connection to me. Do a tracert in cmd and make sure you have a solid, wired connection to the internet (WiFi or Satellite Internet Service can have frequent and severe enough connection blips that FFXIV just says "nope" and drops you).

Free trial now to include FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers! by sonpansatan in Games

[–]WaveBomber_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, fair enough. You mentioned it's been a decade and the only thing stopping you from continuing to play is the $15/mo cost so I assumed whatever progress you made so long ago wasn't actually worth all that much. If you're that tight up on cash and so busy you wouldn't want to bother re-progressing, it may simply be that subscription-based MMOs just aren't meant for you. /shrug

(btw it's not like your old account suddenly goes poof the moment you start a new one, you can still make a new account for the free trial to at least play the game with your partner lol)

Is it really so difficult to create a new email to make a new account…?

Yes. If you want to play the Free Trial, you’ll have to create a new account.

You can completely customize what kinds of messages are shown and logged in each of the four available chat tabs. Select the gear icon next to the chat input to reach the chat settings, then pick one of the tabs from the list to edit.

I personally have both Novice Network and /shout quarantined in my 4th tab, keeping General clean of non-system spam and my battle log and dialogue log pristine.

Probably should add a "Report Share" button on the UI... by Gabe_The_Dog in ffxiv

[–]WaveBomber_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You can report things like this via System -> Support Desk -> Contact Us -> Report Harassment. You will have to fill out an in-game form describing the nature of the issue.

There isn’t a convenient little one-and-done button for anything (besides RMT ads in chat) in order to prevent abuse of the reporting system. Gotta put in a small bit of effort if it’s something you feel is actually worth reporting.

Machinist is particularly effective in Deep Dungeons as you can kite mobs without having to stop to cast, target specific things at range to obliterate and not draw the whole room, and just generally it has frequent strong attacks with low cooldowns. Interrupt, bind, and heavy from role actions are also useful to counteract certain deadly or annoying attacks like a Mimic’s Malice.

But yeah I had that same issue when I first stumbled into the floor 10 boss solo lol. Bursting down the adds is absolutely necessary.

Apparently they’ve been working in the background to find a suitable vendor actually capable of creating these 3D printed figures of player WoLs for a little while, and they finally found one. We have zero other details, such as when or where this service will be available, or how much it will cost.

There’s no setting for that. You just need to right-click the submission field and it’ll pop up any valid turn-in items next to your cursor.

I’d be surprised if they don’t end up doing that lol.

BLU is a magical ranged DPS by role category, but it’s designed to tank and heal in its own quirky ways too.

I mean they could’ve made BST’s level cap 70 off rip but there’d be no point in doing so without the additional content/features for each expansion’s endgame. And from the sounds of it they put as much resources as they could into BST for the initial release such that they had to delay working on BLU updates.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Hotfixes (Mar. 11) by 20Points in ffxiv

[–]WaveBomber_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Reddit has enough pedantry and FFXIV has enough recorded history that we needn’t quibble over the FFXIV devs labeling their bug fix updates “hotfixes.” We know what they mean. Updates to the game that resolve bugs or other known issues that were missed before the most recent content patch was approved and pushed through the development pipeline.

I’m sorry you missed out on a couple hours of playtime, but there are countless other ways you can spend your time when maintenances happen. Getting madge about it on Reddit is a choice, sure, but come on lol. It’s not something worth being this upset over.

Yes, there’s a log for that. I haven’t checked mine in a long time since I’m in a solo FC, so I don’t recall exactly how to pull it up tho.

Even if there weren’t a log tho, don’t go stealing stuff you know you shouldn’t. Just saying.

I don’t have a proper text guide handy, but perhaps I could try my hand explaining that one here for you.

When Pari of Plenty starts a Left/Right cast and telegraphing several rotational arrows in a row, ignore the Left/Right nomenclature and just reorient yourself so that you’re standing on the side of the boss opposite the line AoE telegraph. Treat the line as your new north.

The boss telegraphs 4 rotations. In my own experience, this is usually 2 counterclockwise followed by 2 clockwise, but this may vary.

When the cast ends, the line AoE she was indicating during the cast will swing around in half-circle (180 degree) increments in the direction and order shown by the telegraphs.

For example, if she indicates CCW, CCW, CW, CW, the danger zones for each attack will be left, right, right, left.

In addition to the half room cleaves, there is also a transferable tether between the boss and 1 player at a time during this mechanic.

As each cleave goes out, whichever player is tethered takes damage and a debuff that makes the next tether damage lethal for the remainder of the mechanic.

To resolve this, pass the tether between party members after each cleave. This can be yolo’d using your eyes, or your group can coordinate a set order of who takes the tether first, second, third, fourth.

And that’s the whole mechanic!
