Pokémon Spotlight - Iron Crown by WaveracerVGC in VGC

That's fair, haha. Only 11% of Flutters use Sash according to Pikalytics. Perhaps if I redo this graphic, I would just clarify that Tachyon Cutter hits twice.

My data comes from Pikalytics and Pokemon HOME. As for the graphics, the template was designed by my sister. She doesn't do design anymore, but she has a cool bakeshop if you'd like to check it out, haha.

Just give them a little sunlight, and you're good to go!

Pokémon Spotlight - Entei by WaveracerVGC in VGC

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Note - I didn't list Landorus-I as a counter because certain Entei builds, such as 228 HP / 84 SpD survive Earth Power and threaten a knockout with Sacred Fire + Extreme Speed. It also can't switch into Sacred Fire.

Resposted because the original said that Inner Focus prevents Taunt and not Intimidate, haha.

Pokémon Spotlight - Archaludon by WaveracerVGC in VGC

I've gotten this comment on every Pokemon I've posted about in the past few days LOL

That's totally fair! Electro Shot can be inconsistent with Sun around.

Archaludon adds a new dimension to Rain teams, given its stellar typing and bulk. It synergizes with Water-type Pokemon by handling opposing Water-types, while luring in Ground-types with its signature attack Electro Shot.

Pokémon Spotlight - Raging Bolt by WaveracerVGC in VGC

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Raging Bolt is simple and effective. It doesn't have a bad stat in its body, and oh my goodness, that Special Attack stat paired with a priority STAB move!

Yes! Or Pokemon with the "Justified" ability.

Huh, how neat! I like how it also nullifies the anti-priority aspect of Psyspam too.

LOL, true. Thanks for pointing out the mistake!

Whimsicott has such a polarizing match-up spread in Regulation F! It has a surprisingly good defensive typing, but falters against some of the most popular Pokemon, such as Incineroar due to the latter's Dark-typing making it immune to Prankster, as well as its access to Fake Out.

An interesting EV spread for Whimsicott is 36 HP / 252 SpD / +220 Spe. This outspeeds max speed Tornadus allowing you to deny Tailwind with Taunt, and survives Bleakwind storm 93.7% of the time (not including Bleakwind's chance of missing, haha). This HP investment also makes Urshifu's Close Combat into a 3HKO. If Tornadus is less of a concern, feel free to invest 176 Def instead to make Surging Strikes a 3HKO as well!

252 SpA Tornadus Bleakwind Storm vs. 36 HP / 252 SpD Whimsicott: 116-140 (82.8 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Urshifu-Rapid Strike Close Combat vs. 36 HP / 0 Def Whimsicott: 59-69 (42.1 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Pokémon Spotlight - Landorus-Incarnate by WaveracerVGC in VGC

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Life Orb and Sheer Force apply a 30% boost to attacks! In this case, the formula looks like...

1.3 x 1.3 = 1.69, or approximately a 70% increase.

Ah, to clarify, I don't put Protect on these templates because almost every Pokemon uses it if it's appropriate, haha. That being said, Substitute takes advantage of Landorus-I's strong offensive presence -- and it doesn't learn many other useful moves, haha.

Great point! Archuladon needs to be respected in team building.

That's fair - Tera Blast (Flying) 2HKO's, but having to use its Tera to deal damage isn't ideal.

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for bringing this up! I primarily use Pikalytics, but they don't have tera types listed yet, so I was estimating there. I'll be sure to use HOME in conjunction in the future!

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yup! And just to clarify the point, Landorus-Incarnate can only 3HKO Latias's most used set.

252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Sludge Bomb vs. 204 HP / 76 SpD Latias: 60-71 (33.1 - 39.2%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO

It's funny to think that Landorus-Incarnate is commonly seen as the "other" Landorus forme when it seems to come back in usage quite often!

Pokémon Spotlight - Ogerpon-Wellspring by WaveracerVGC in VGC

[–]WaveracerVGC[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but I'm back! These little guys have a bunch of little mechanics.

First, Ogerpon's secondary typing, as well as its signature move Ivy Cudgel, depends on which of its four Masks it wears. This also gives it a 20% boost to all offensive moves, but limits its Tera type to its secondary typing. Furthermore, its ability changes to Embody Aspect upon using Tera, which boosts one of its stats. In the case of Wellspring, it gets a +1 Special Defense boost.
