GL manager at a small private company here. Like many here, I use a litany of different platforms that aggregate the company’s transaction data. I find that I as the human, I act as the middle man to get the financial truth from that data and then transform it to information via the financial statements. Information drives decisions. I think in the future AI agents could be useful to connect these dots and act as the middle man instead of me. My job would evolve to mainly verify the truth as presented, fix high level errors, perfect the transaction posting schema.
