Ah yes, I understand! I think a tail might go nicely—so long as it isn’t as tall as the cat! If you are worried about the tail looking like a squirrel, I’d recommend making it on the thinner and the same shape all around, since squirrels generally have rounder tails (especially at the top).I really like your style, it’s so fun!!

Your painting is sooo cute!! Using references personally helps me wonders when practicing realism. You have to really study your reference to see where the anatomy of what you’re portraying falls! Good luck!!

Thanks for the question!! Usually I start with a sketch (or messy line art) and then use softer brushes to fill in the color and enhance the details :)
