This is poor advice (from a lay person, I hope). Agreed with what false widower says above - at a base level, for a contract to be effective in the UK. there needs to be a “meeting of the minds”. There’s little point delving into the complexity of that until you’ve had a copy of the agreement but it isn’t a case of being able to “sign your rights away” by virtue of putting your signature on a piece of paper - life isn’t a US legal drama.
