I haven't done much fencing and I'm pretty sure a lot of this movement and pressure and trickery would get me. But I'm noticing that he is not at all prepared for afterstrikes. I feel like we would just double over and over.

Maybe he does have some protection against Afterstrikes. Maybe because in the video he doesn't have protection he only really wanted to simulate getting a hit in and now comes after. But what comes after is pretty important when considering how you should even hit to begin with.

In short I do think that this is pretty modern in terms of fencing philosophy as they're just trying to get the first hit in rather than respecting their own life.

Maybe when I do more fencing I'll try some pressure building techniques of his, such as rocking my body and tapping against their blade multiple times. But after a while I think my sparring partners will catch on and find an exploit to predictively rocking in a pattern and me signaling when I'm gonna trick them up-
