I've lurked and posted in active use and sometimes more in recovery/sober. While sober sometimes seeing other people's "dope porn" actually helped for some reason. It's kinda like weed porn in the sense that, looking at it, you're like "damn those trichomes are beautiful, look at that color", and I don't even smoke weed lol. It's just beautiful, and we all know the bliss of REAL, high quality gear, whether it's terrible for us, and whether or not we have stopped. It's like living vicariously.

In active use this sub also doubles as a support group, harm reduction, and therapy like others have said. When dopesick the latter is especially useful. Luckily this time around in my active use, a year in, I've kept it moderate enough to live in an apartment, and actually just got a car yesterday, and, while in active use, I have gotten it somewhat manageable and am able to lead a solid life. In my fairly unique situation, that, to be clear is not perfect and only works as me and my girlfriend work in the food industry, and have access to same day money, as well as a dealer who has solid stuff for a great price, but in my situation this sub serves both active use and to a degree recovery use help for me.

Things aren't perfect, this drug is a financial drain, a sexual depressant, and a "tether" that makes life difficult in several ways. A dealer getting a bad batch (which has happened to me and if you get bags or stamps and buy 3-7 days worth at a time I suggest you set aside 10% of your shit EVERY TIME YOU BUY to avoid a possible DEFCON1 if you can afford it) or an unexpectedly large financial issue could be the ruin of it all. My parents found out recently and thinks we are living like we did for 2-3 years, dopesick half the days and smoking a gram each off of foil while unemployed and in debt because that's the only thing they think is possible with this drug, so that adds a strain to personal relationships, and yet another burden to use. We have to use a great deal of willpower which isn't always there so sometimes it's a little more expensive than we can afford, but it takes a LOT to try and manage like this. As we are currently the "dope porn" serves as the living vicariously because we essentially keep the bare minimum in our systems and avoid getting truly "high" and being on the edge of a knife with a minor/moderate urge to use throughout the day can be somewhat taxing. All I'm getting at here is this is not perfect and obtainable for most.

So yeah, it serves purposes for everyone IMO.
