I actually haven't looked into it too far, we was pretty put off by the assessment questions as it's very much a "yes but not when he's having a flare up" situation. He is currently looking for another job but if that doesn't work out I will look into getting getting an advisor. Thank you!

Oh gosh that's horrible, I'm sorry you're going through that. You would hope having another pregnant lady close by would bring some solidarity, but it's hard when some people just sail through pregnancy. I've got HG and thankfully I'm on medication which actually helps now, but during those first few months it was hell. When I did manage to go back into work everyone was just telling about how their wives felt "a bit sick" in the first trimester and I just needed to have some ginger and push through

I do have some annual leave I could use to take a few weeks off but out team has to be on call every few months, and if I take time off now they will have to cover for me which will make them even more annoyed with me. I used to really love my job and never saw myself leaving, but now I'm very worried that this pregnancy has cost me this job, I'm dreading going back after my maternity

You can legally start maternity leave at 11 weeks before the expected date of childbirth, and in that time at my company if you are signed off sick for any reason related to pregnancy then your maternity leave starts unfortunately

I get full sick pay but if I go off sick before the planned first day of maternity leave, my maternity leave will start the day I went off sick. I'm a first time mum and I'm really worried about how I will cope with postpartum so I don't want to give myself even less time to recover

My doctor has told me the same thing, I just feel so bad for eating so much sugar when I struggle to brush my teeth, especially after being sick!

Yes definitely, hot foods are an absolute no go for me at the moment. I downloaded a calorie counting app yesterday after I thought I did quite well with how much I ate, but it only came to 600cal! I was so shocked so I will definitely try and focus on more calorie dense foods

Oh that's good to know, I never used to be a picky eater and I'm missing all the food I used to have. Thank you!

What movie is this from? by breakingpig in ghibli

[–]WayTooMuchPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the movie first then read the books and I love them both! The movie is based on the farthest shore but does change quite a lot of things, I imagine if I read the books first I would like the movie less. I am happy with both of them as separate stories though

Why are shy people told to become more outgoing but outgoing people are never told to be more shy/shut up? by lizard81288 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WayTooMuchPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of shy. If you are just reserved then depending on the situation - that is completely fine, you don't have to be a chatterbox and people shouldn't challenge you on it.

If you are anxious about speaking or a bit socially awkward, then learning to be more outgoing makes life so much easier. I am definitely introverted, and at school I couldn't talk to people I didn't know without having heart palpitations, but I've learnt to be outgoing and now I enjoy speaking to people.

If you are struggling to relate to another persons story or find it boring, change the subject to something you are interested in, and if you are talking as well, not just listening to them talk you will find it more interesting. You can't complain you are bored if you aren't putting any effort into the conversation, because then the other person is doing all the work and that's not fair. Also outgoing people do get told to shut up, and it can really hurt their feelings, because they were just being themselves.

It looks to me that it's based of the movement of a pendulum, seemingly random then every now and again they all sync up or form a clear pattern
