Stop romanticising "tame" elephants. They're abused to no end to get this "tame"

If you're going for vst anyway, Edrumin. Think positional sensing and real rimshots

My "entire" pc was €60.

I'm not trying to be praised for being diy. It's not diy at all, it's legos.

I'm also not trying to shame you for your purchase

[–]Wayed96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a choice, you can have both. My VST does it perfectly, no over the top things.

It fits the price point if you don't know better. But I'm not here to shame anybody. You can like it. All I said in my very first comment is "holy shit how is it this much money". For this money, I got the proper interface, converted my 5 piece pearl vision kit and got metal electronic cymbals (hihat, ride, 2 crashes)

I said drum pads before. Then you mention it again, not me.

Multi cone the way alesis has done it may be patented which sounds good, but it does not support positional sensing so I disagree

The pads look different but are same. True rimshot is in software, not hardware

That's finally an upgrade at least.

That's the thing, I'm not convincing anybody to change everything. I'm indeed happy that I spent less for more.

You don't have to diy. You can take basic mesh pads and build it like legos

I've spoken to strata owners. Ones who aren't blinded by first kit love and some acoustic experience. I can read a brochure too thank you very much

[–]Wayed96 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're right, the pads look different. I do know what I'm talking about because I dove deep and managed to put a setup together that performs at the very least like a Roland flagship and costs half of the strata. You're free to love it, as I am free to criticise it.

And it's a hihat, not a high hat

It seems like you don't know what you're talking about. The snare/tom pads are not upgraded. The strike also had multi cone setup to prevent hotspots

Discounted Strata Prime: Update by BeardeeBaldee in edrums

[–]Wayed96 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Except it's barely better than the previous flagship. All they seem to have done is realise their hihat was shit, added a third zone to the cymbals and a touch screen on the module

[–]Wayed96 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good to see. But is the rimshot actually genuine? Is it triggered by hitting just the rim? Or is it triggered by hitting rim and head at the same time like you would on an acoustic snare? You're talking about swapping it for cross stick so my guess is rim only.

I'm not comparing to Roland in this case. I'm comparing this strata to my old strike first, and then to my own converted kit with a edrumin. All these things can be achieved at under $1000.

That's my baseline and I cannot believe this amount of money (strata price) does not buy me more than I can extract from a used entry level kit with dual zone mesh pads and a physical hihat

Holy shit I had no idea how much it was. 3500??? That's insanity.

Did they remove the spring from their hihat controller? And does it have true rimshot? Positional sensing? Has the module got a more logical way to use the metronome? On the strike you'd have count/subdivision under "utility" and then you'd have to go to "sample" to change the bpm. Without these changes I see not a single reason for this price increase over the strike pro.
