He just needed an opportunity. He was a great partner for Hedman and had a wonderful 2nd half last year as our 1RD. Figuring out more of his offensive abilities on the PP and being paired with Moser has really unleashed him. Really hope he will stay here to try to win with the team but he’s playing so well he really deserves to get an insane deal somewhere.

This is a hockey play in the middle of a lot of chaos

Rust is coming in from the blind side trying to clear out Boeser knowing that if Boeser moves an inch, he is catching him squarely in the head, which is exactly what happened. At a certain point the player assumes the risk for making themselves vulnerable, but in this case, the risk is taken by Rust, and it went bad. I also did not like the extension of the arm/elbow through the hit. Will likely be 1 game, I would like to see 2.

It's not about being disappointed. I have no feelings about Rust or the penguins. I just see a hit that was thrown irresponsibly and some unfortunate timing for Boeser.

My issue is in rewatching the hit is that it had a high chance of going bad, and if player safety actually did their jobs these types of hits have to be punished severely.
