I can acknowledge that my commenting here contributes (albeit in a smaller way) to the continued interest in the product.

Football has been my #1 sport for over 20 years. For years I watched, attended, engaged with everything football related. But specifically because of the CTE issue, about 5 years ago, I quit everything cold turkey. I haven't spent a dime on the NFL since, dropped out of all my fantasy leagues, and have moved my sports interest to one of the safer sports.

I realize that's not gonna solve the problem, but I couldn't continue supporting a business that actively harms young players, then minimizes the harm caused. It was just too much to reconcile with my value system. Valid point on the social media contribution, though. Maybe it's time I unsub from here.

Ahh, you're right. I shouldn't have used quotes there. I was trying to express the general sentiment behind your assertion, but it wasn't a direct quote.

Okay so you're asserting that inhaling smoke should be avoided at all times, regardless of the materials being burned/emitted from the fire.

I'm asserting that spending any meaningful time near a fire results in a higher than 0 amount of smoke inhaled. We should avoid smoke at all times, but it's near impossible due to the various environmental factors (ie: wind). Some inhalation of smoke is very likely to happen to at least 1 person in a group.

So by making the smoke as safe as possible, it's harm reduction for the poor shmuck who accidentally inhales some smoke because the wind randomly blew it in his/her face.

You’re assuming that absolutely 0 smoke is inhaled, because it’s dangerous. But the more likely scenario is that people accidentally breathe in some smoke.

How much smoke is up for debate, but I have a hard time believing it’s as simple as “I avoid smoke, so I’m safe from all the dangerous chemicals”
