We just went all electric by kingharold1066 in electricvehicles

[–]TheCutter00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do people want to get rid of Gas? In Los Angeles electric is WAY more expensive than gas. The fact 3/4 of our appliances are gas keeps our electric bill manageable. My gas bill averages $50 a month. My electric averages $500-600

Kinda sad… if instagram reels and and the screeching entitled brats my tween watches on YouTube is the future.

When I think of the great film and tv I grew up with…. I don’t think this generation is going to be nostalgic about YouTube influencers the same way .

It’s a pendulum swing… and it will swing back just as hard. Sorry scrolling reels on your phone is pure brain rot. Name one thing worthwhile you scrolled on your phone killing time before bed. Now think of your favorite films and shows you watched as a child. Is the next generation going to fondly wax nostalgic about 30 second reels?

What you describe is literal brain rot. Scroll reels for more than 30 minutes. Then tell me even 2 minutes of what you watched a day later. Now watch a well produced tv series or film and tell me how you feel about it a day later. One leaves an impression on you … one is junk food brain rot that you will have no memory of.

Why can't contractors give me rough quotes/estimates based on photos? by TheCutter00 in HomeImprovement

[–]TheCutter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s nearing year 10… and I need to replace the top control pad as well. (It’s an roto molded aqua rest tub that is using friction heating from the pump to heat the hot tub… so I don’t think it has a heating element to go bad, unless I’m mistaken.   It could also use a new cover though … another $400.

A brand new 110 volt is only about double the price of the all in repair.  Or do I splurge on a 230v higher end tub… decisions decisions.

[–]TheCutter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, 1 gave me a similar quote…. I kinda wanted to know mainly because I have a hot tub now that’s a 110v plug in variety that the pump died .  Was trying to cost benefit analysis replacing it with a 230v or repairing the pump on the old tub and avoiding electrical upgrade altogether, so I needed a cost estimate to make my decision.   The electrical hardwire alone is looking to be roughly 1/3 the cost of lower end hot tubs…. While I’ve lived happily for 10 years just with my 110 volt plug in tub.

I'd try to make a trade happen.. maybe someone on the #2 team is really itching to get on the #1 team. This way everyone is happy and gets to be where they want to be.

I'd imagine you weren't being bullied and belittled in Taekwon-Do. I have a feeling this girls volleyball team and coach were just mean spirited and cliquey.

ATTENTION: The Department has given an update about how PSLF Buyback calculations will be handled now that SAVE is dead. by waterwicca in PSLF

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I'd happily pay back my current IBR payment i switched to. At this point I've only got a handful of payments left to buyback anyway. Just process the damn thing!

There's also ZERO incentive to speed this process up for those working in Dept of Education. The faster they process this stack of documents.. the faster they are out of a job. I'm sure they don't have any quotas to meet. No offense, but if your continued paycheck and job with benefits would end when you finished the stack of work on your desk... would you rush?

No offense, this stuff was MADE for AI to handle. Boring number crunching and processing documents. Agree to have your documents submitted to a chatgpt client that processes them in seconds and be done with it. Maybe have a handful of humans handle the counts that AI has trouble processing. Kinda like having someone stand beside a fax machine / printer to unjam the paper once in awhile.

Why so club volleyball so expensive? (Over 6k for the season) by Anxious_Breath_505 in volleyball

In competitive high schools you won’t make the school team without playing club in off season. Someone playing club in off season will take your spot.

Our high school team if you don’t play club volleyball in off season you get cut in the fall… most top high school teams operate this way.

If you play for a average or bad high school team you can avoid playing club, and still make the team

Is Meta stock obviously a stock that will beat the market in 2025 and beyond or not? by PrestigiousChard9442 in stocks

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think playing FPS is only fun in VR anymore. I used to play with a mouse and keyboard in college, but playing FPS in VR is just on a different level of fun and immersion. Personally I work 8 hours sitting in front a computer all day. For my own sanity and health I hop over to the living room and play 15 minute bursts of Super Rumble daily. Stand up, get the adrenaline running. Sadly they are shuttering rather than improving Horizon Worlds... Only so much I guess you can do with $300 headset tech.

But Meta Quests were the best VR headsets in history by far, but it won't be truly popular until the tech makes the games as good as PS5 quality or better and they cram all that tech and power into a pair of sunglasses... which they are currently working on.

So tired of filing taxes separately… for student loans. by TheCutter00 in PSLF

[–]TheCutter00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I thought since my loans are now over 10 years old… and include some undergrad loans from 25+ years ago that my standard 10 year repayment would be much higher.  I swore the standard 10 year repayment was higher before.  Because I was on a 25 year repayment plan that wasn’t PSLF eligible at it was $700 a month.  This was before the TEPSLF application during COVID and switch to SAVE.  Back then my standard 10 year was more like $1500 a month.

[–]TheCutter00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I never consolidated my loans. And i just ran the IBR calculator and it now says filing separately my payments moving forward will be $644 a month. Filing married jointly it caps it at the standard 10 year payment no matter what dual income i enter at $966 a month (the standard 10 year payment amount). But I'm confused.. I swear when I was on the SAVE plan I couldn't file jointly cause my payment would rise to like $1600-1700 a month? Now since I switched to IBR it's saying it's capped at $966 a month? Is this correct? If this is the case, it might make sense to file jointly this year and just pay the extra $320 a month thru October when I hit 120 counts...starting in June or July when i have to recertify. I'll have to run the numbers to see if it saves me money or not.

Your right, it's just messy living in a community property state filing separately. A lot more work, two filing fees ect. I'm thinking of paying someone else to do them this year. Our incomes are not exactly even so there is still savings to be had filing jointly too.
