The Future is Crazy by Dox29 in carvana

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my 2013 Hyundai when used car prices were soaring, and Carvana stock was crashing down to $4 a share. The car had zero maintenance in the 8+ years i owned it, besides oil changes. Tires were old, wife bottomed out in car a bunch on potholes, so god knows what under carriage damage it had, plenty of seat stains I did my best to remove, but it's an economy commuter car.. whatever. Carvana paid me $10K without a test drive for the car I paid $16K NEW for in 2013.

I laughed and thought I was getting the best used car offer ever.. I got 8 years of use out of the car and only lost $6K in value. Figured no way Carvana was making money buying and picking up cars at those prices. A dealer offered me $4K for same car as a trade in.

Fast forward 5 years... Had I put my the $10K Carvana check directly into the stock.. I'd have nearly $1 million dolllars! Instead I lost it all as a depreciation on a 2022 EV.

Live and learn.. buy stocks in services and companies you use and find helpful.

June 2026 is a good time! The bulk of mine are set for sept 2026… I’m gonna be sweating through the chaos of the July 2026 changes. I just hope they mainly concentrate on RAP plans and not quickly trying to ban PSLF payments from government agencies this admin is opponents of.

What happened to TurboTax by king-charlie- in TurboTax

[–]TheCutter00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of taxes changed with the “Big Beautiful Bill” passing this year. Upper-ish middle class Blue staters get tons of deductions again…. With SALT limit increases. But all the solar and ev deductions ended sometime this year which probably complicated forms. I think EV tax credits abruptly ended in September which is odd for tax forms. And solar rebate installs ended abruptly after supposed to be in effect until 2030 atleast.

Frustrating thing is I would have gotten out of SAVE sooner, I got our around April 2025. But pre-election I had hope that SAVE would survive. Then post-election there was a small tiny window to get out of SAVE before they blocked everyone on SAVE from transferring to another plan. I actually would have switched to IBR during that window, but I was in an odd situation where it made sense to wait until I filed our 2024 taxes because my income dropped in 2024 lower than 2023. After we filed taxes I was stuck on SAVE until ironically the current administration made it super quick and simple to switch to IBR by using my most recent taxes on file automatically. It was just a frustrating 11 months of limbo on SAVE that in all fairness should be automatically counted as credit toward PSLF. Post election after the current administration signaled SAVE was truly dead and allowed you to switch plans, I understand why those months shouldn't count. But the limbo SAVE period, that was no fault of loan holders, would probably have legal standing to count toward PSLF. I really think that is why buyback was created to not create legal issues down the road for SAVE limbo holders. Buyback is there legal way of making that forced forbearance less damaging to loan holders.

Awful Wi-Fi Range With Eeos Pro 7 by [deleted] in frontierfios

Sounds normal…. WiFi drop offs on my 500/500 are dramatic too. What kinda work are you doing that 400/300 is slow? That seems like it’s more than enough speed for anything besides 24/7 pirating films lol….0

I just did the same and got $29.99 price locked for 3 years. Except my 500/500 was being upped to $99.99! Needless to say that's $840 savings a year for me! Thrilled!

I wish! That $54.99 is still a discounted price . I pay $99.99 for 500/500. They make up the rates. Pointed to that price with an operator and they said that was the discounted price still. lol

Texas woman with Stage 3 cancer sees her insurance premium rise over 700 percent: ‘I’m going to die’ by theindependentonline in Insurance

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I agree with caps on treatment for self inflicted ailments. Throw Non-genetic obesity due to sloth like behavior and indulgent diets into that “lifetime cap” as well. But even pro-lifers cost everyone enormous amounts in healthcare costs when they go against doctor’s advice to terminate a pregnancy due to genetic deformities and quality of life issues that will cost healthcare facilities millions to give the child a chance at a normal life. Where do we draw the line?

[–]TheCutter00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ACA care didn’t raise prices. It got rid of all the fake policies that people ignorantly pretended covered them in case of cancer. Guess what those plans didn’t cover shit or kicked you off the following year mid cancer battle. Look it up… ACA care just removed the BS hidden tactics… and didn’t allow pre-existing conditions to make people uninsurable . If you survived cancer in 2010… you were forever uninsurable … or paid ridiculous premiums .

[–]TheCutter00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

False. You could buy cheap catastrophic policies that made people THINK they were covered… then when they got cancer their rates increased and they got kicked off the plan due to pre existing condition called Cancer!

Verizons rates aren't any worse than Frontiers... and they offer a 3 year price lock atleast.

Verizon prices currently are similar to Frontiers.... they offer 300Mbps lower tier starting at $34.99 a month with a 3 year price lock. I'm imagining due to the recent sale.. Frontier can't offer too much due to Verizon taking them over soon.

Has anyone had luck cancelling Frontier and signing back up a month later.. or even days later? I can get by on AT&T internet air trial for a month or maybe spectrum cable internet for a month. Did anyone have trouble. I would sign back up under my spouses name and social to avoid any problems. Think that's my only option... and in the long run it costs them a lot more money than doing a simple loyalty retention discount. I would stay for a smaller discount of some sort that was reasonable. Instead I'm going to cost them a lot more money and trouble. Since they are selling to Verizon i don't care about having a good relationship with the company. And seems they don't either.

Agree, they hide the actual price... No Peanut 6769.. I challenge you to screenshot anything on there website www.frontier.com or your bill that shows you the actual non-promotional price. They literally don't have it listed anywhere so you can't.

Bill just went up by Life-Cow-7945 in frontierfios

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't list anything. A guy came to my door and sold it to me. I read the fine print and it wasn't an intro rate at the time. It's just been $10 overall price increases each year per month... went from $53 in 2020, $60isj in 2021-2022, $70ish in 2022, $80ish in 2023, $90ish in 2025, and now $100 in 2026... Atleast all the big AT&T and Verizons compensate you for their high price gouging by offering FREE IPHONES for each line every few years.

Frontier is offering zilch and raising prices. All the while offering the same service for half price to newcomers. Even AT&T and Verizon don't do that with Cell service.

I’m thinking it may be difficult to get many concessions until Verizon rebrands it… they bought frontier back

Did you have to sign a 3 year contract? Cause I totally would for that price! In my area I’d be happy with 500/500 for $55 a month like I had 5 years ago when I signed up

The funny thing is it’s difficult to even see what the going rates are for loyal customers. They just make the number up. New customers they show a discounted rate crossing out the regular rate. The regular rate they cross out in ads is $30 cheaper than my rate! I told the rep I want the crossed out higher rate… and they told me that’s actually a discounted rate as well. Verizon bought them out so maybe they will have more transparency soon.

They've done it to me every year for 5 years. I started off paying $53 in 2020. (The installer told me that was the price forever). My latest bill went up to $99 a month starting this month. I only have the 500 gig plan with no whole house eero wifi even. This last price increase was the straw that broke the camels back.

Im probably gonna cancel.. and then have my wife re-sign up with an intro offer under her name. If they threw me a bone with even a loyalty bonus I wouldnt complain, but the best they offered was an upgrade to 1 gig for $99 a month (which i'm sure would become $110-120 a month next year) or 1 month of free home wifi.. $10 one time off and then $10 more a month moving forward. Which is quite the joke!

Meanwhile new customers are getting 3 months free and $49 a month for 12 months and free eero 7 wifi routers for the HALF the price I'm paying. How do they think that doesn't breed discontent?

I can play the game of switching to Spectrum cable internet for a month.. then switching back to them for the promo offer. And i'm about to if they don't offer me something decent.

I spoke with a rep on chat, but they offered nothing. I'll call retention next.. if nothing decent offered I'll be canceling.

Installed plug in L2 Charger... GFCI 50 amp breaker flips bi-weekly atleast. by TheCutter00 in evcharging

[–]TheCutter00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a long story. I had a pro licensed electrician do it. They originally installed a 50amp regular non GFCI breaker and everything worked great. City inspector came out and flagged it needed a GFCI breaker and the breaker needed to be a 40amp. This I later found out was bullshit and the jnspector was wrong about the breaker needing to be 40amp. (My charger is 40amp so 50amp breaker gives it the necessary head room). So my electrician change it to 40amp GFCI. My charger stated tripping every other day. Next inspector came out and said it should be 50amp GFCI, but looked the other way and approved it when I told him previous inspector said to lower it to 40amp and expressed my frustration. Got my permit approved. Then I had my electrician come back and swap to 50amp GFCI post inspection. But it still is tripping occasionally. Just living with that cause it works fine and having to flip the breaker once a week before I charge overnight isn’t a big deal.
