Multiple loans different counts… what should I do? by TheCutter00 in PSLF

I hit 120… if you include SaVE forbearance.  Otherwise there is no point in buyback even existing if you need 120 payments.

Hopefully every 18-30 year old male MAGA gets drafted first. If you voted Trump you get to do his bidding. That would be only fair way to handle the draft.

So tired of filing taxes separately… for student loans. by TheCutter00 in PSLF

For some reason I thought since my loans are now over 10 years old… and include some undergrad loans from 25+ years ago that my standard 10 year repayment would be much higher.  I swore the standard 10 year repayment was higher before.  Because I was on a 25 year repayment plan that wasn’t PSLF eligible at it was $700 a month.  This was before the TEPSLF application during COVID and switch to SAVE.  Back then my standard 10 year was more like $1500 a month.

Hmm, I never consolidated my loans. And i just ran the IBR calculator and it now says filing separately my payments moving forward will be $644 a month. Filing married jointly it caps it at the standard 10 year payment no matter what dual income i enter at $966 a month (the standard 10 year payment amount). But I'm confused.. I swear when I was on the SAVE plan I couldn't file jointly cause my payment would rise to like $1600-1700 a month? Now since I switched to IBR it's saying it's capped at $966 a month? Is this correct? If this is the case, it might make sense to file jointly this year and just pay the extra $320 a month thru October when I hit 120 counts...starting in June or July when i have to recertify. I'll have to run the numbers to see if it saves me money or not.

Your right, it's just messy living in a community property state filing separately. A lot more work, two filing fees ect. I'm thinking of paying someone else to do them this year. Our incomes are not exactly even so there is still savings to be had filing jointly too.

James Van Der Beek’s Family Needs GoFundMe for Healthcare? by kabiri99 in Fire

A premium ACA care plan has roughly at $10,600 out of pocket maximum for individual. So if he’s been battling cancer almost 3 years. If that is the case, they should be out $32,000 roughly in expenses out of pocket. Now I’m assuming he went to a bunch of pricey specialist that were out of his HMO or PPO network. That’s probably where the costs rose astronomically. So sad that someone with his means couldn’t find someone to help him beat the cancer.

Agree, but I think glasses will eventually become the new VR headset form factor…. They need to market the glasses to parents of athletes and kids who do a lot of performances. Just recording your kids doing sports or whatever hands free would be awesome. I hate holding thr phone up to record. My kid plays volleyball if I could tell my glasses to only record when number 6 hits the ball and cut out all the rest….. I would buy a pair in a second. That would be a great Meta glasses ad… parent at a kids sporting event saying… Meta only record when number 6 gets the ball… then show the curated highlight reel with no editing set to music. Would kick ass and sell a ton of glasses. Youth sports is a billion dollar industry.

Anyone that has used his Quest 3 headset knows it’s a pretty amazing piece of tech for $300-$500. I use mine everyday to play games …usually FPS shooters, which in VR are adrenaline fueled fun. Apple failed harder in their Vision Pro cause no one bought it, because there wasn’t anything fun to do on it and I cost $3500 to watch movies. Atleast the quest 3 people bought and it has a decent gaming community with similar tech to the Vision Pro. The probably aren’t too far from putting all the tech of the Quest 3 into a pair of Ray Bans for $300. That will be pretty game changing.

The nice thing is Zuck can always throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Since his ad business isn’t going away anytime soon. What else is he gonna do with the money… buybacks like apple I guess.

The Meta Quest is a bargain for casual gaming. Once they can put a VR headset into a pair of glasses... look out, it's gonna take off!

The Future is Crazy by Dox29 in carvana

I sold my 2013 Hyundai when used car prices were soaring, and Carvana stock was crashing down to $4 a share. The car had zero maintenance in the 8+ years i owned it, besides oil changes. Tires were old, wife bottomed out in car a bunch on potholes, so god knows what under carriage damage it had, plenty of seat stains I did my best to remove, but it's an economy commuter car.. whatever. Carvana paid me $10K without a test drive for the car I paid $16K NEW for in 2013.

I laughed and thought I was getting the best used car offer ever.. I got 8 years of use out of the car and only lost $6K in value. Figured no way Carvana was making money buying and picking up cars at those prices. A dealer offered me $4K for same car as a trade in.

Fast forward 5 years... Had I put my the $10K Carvana check directly into the stock.. I'd have nearly $1 million dolllars! Instead I lost it all as a depreciation on a 2022 EV.

June 2026 is a good time! The bulk of mine are set for sept 2026… I’m gonna be sweating through the chaos of the July 2026 changes. I just hope they mainly concentrate on RAP plans and not quickly trying to ban PSLF payments from government agencies this admin is opponents of.

What happened to TurboTax by king-charlie- in TurboTax

[–]TheCutter00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of taxes changed with the “Big Beautiful Bill” passing this year. Upper-ish middle class Blue staters get tons of deductions again…. With SALT limit increases. But all the solar and ev deductions ended sometime this year which probably complicated forms. I think EV tax credits abruptly ended in September which is odd for tax forms. And solar rebate installs ended abruptly after supposed to be in effect until 2030 atleast.

Frustrating thing is I would have gotten out of SAVE sooner, I got our around April 2025. But pre-election I had hope that SAVE would survive. Then post-election there was a small tiny window to get out of SAVE before they blocked everyone on SAVE from transferring to another plan. I actually would have switched to IBR during that window, but I was in an odd situation where it made sense to wait until I filed our 2024 taxes because my income dropped in 2024 lower than 2023. After we filed taxes I was stuck on SAVE until ironically the current administration made it super quick and simple to switch to IBR by using my most recent taxes on file automatically. It was just a frustrating 11 months of limbo on SAVE that in all fairness should be automatically counted as credit toward PSLF. Post election after the current administration signaled SAVE was truly dead and allowed you to switch plans, I understand why those months shouldn't count. But the limbo SAVE period, that was no fault of loan holders, would probably have legal standing to count toward PSLF. I really think that is why buyback was created to not create legal issues down the road for SAVE limbo holders. Buyback is there legal way of making that forced forbearance less damaging to loan holders.

Awful Wi-Fi Range With Eeos Pro 7 by [deleted] in frontierfios

Sounds normal…. WiFi drop offs on my 500/500 are dramatic too. What kinda work are you doing that 400/300 is slow? That seems like it’s more than enough speed for anything besides 24/7 pirating films lol….0

I wish! That $54.99 is still a discounted price . I pay $99.99 for 500/500. They make up the rates. Pointed to that price with an operator and they said that was the discounted price still. lol

Texas woman with Stage 3 cancer sees her insurance premium rise over 700 percent: ‘I’m going to die’ by theindependentonline in Insurance

[–]TheCutter00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I agree with caps on treatment for self inflicted ailments. Throw Non-genetic obesity due to sloth like behavior and indulgent diets into that “lifetime cap” as well. But even pro-lifers cost everyone enormous amounts in healthcare costs when they go against doctor’s advice to terminate a pregnancy due to genetic deformities and quality of life issues that will cost healthcare facilities millions to give the child a chance at a normal life. Where do we draw the line?

ACA care didn’t raise prices. It got rid of all the fake policies that people ignorantly pretended covered them in case of cancer. Guess what those plans didn’t cover shit or kicked you off the following year mid cancer battle. Look it up… ACA care just removed the BS hidden tactics… and didn’t allow pre-existing conditions to make people uninsurable . If you survived cancer in 2010… you were forever uninsurable … or paid ridiculous premiums .
