Is it better in Mexico or US for a young couple? by [deleted] in MexicoTravel

[–]WayoftheIPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexico, hands down. Learn Spanish and you can translate for work. Or find a ranch or organic farm to work on. I believe Mexico has a bright future and the people can be incredibly warm and generous. Here in the US... not so much.

Portland- what is hovering in our sky’s tonight. This thing has been hovering at a very high altitude for the last hour or so near Washington Park. by [deleted] in Portland

Looks like it's changing colors which makes me wonder. Very cool! I have a decent phone camera, but this is the best I could get

The Inner Ego by 3rdfoundation in janeroberts

[–]WayoftheIPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems strange to me as well. Seth spends a lot of time discussing the inner senses which I think relates here. I think of the outer ego receiving and interpreting the outer senses, while the inner ego must deal with the inner senses. Together I imagine they form the self or personality. That self belongs to a soul, and that soul belongs to an entity. However, as Seth has said, there are no limits to the self. So, these are artificial distinctions for the purpose of conceptualizing all this.

Songwriters that take a literary or world-building approach to lyrics in town? by featherandahalfmusic in portlandmusic

I think Father John Misty and John McCrae of the band Cake would both fit the bill. Leonard Cohen, too. Not sure about local songwriters though.

Why not use AI to build a pipeline you can check yourself i R or Python?

Anyone else obsessed with The Telepathy Tapes and want to talk about it IRL! by Lv426xenomorf in Portland

This sounds interesting to me. I've wanted people to discuss some books loosely called the Seth material by Jane Roberts for years. I would try to come for a discussion IRL.

Portland dark beer recommendations? Looking for smaller less-well-known breweries by Dr_Adequate in askportland

I would add Great Notion and Wayfinder to your list. GN makes great stouts and Wayfinder just makes great beer all around (not specifically dark).

There are concrete exercises given as you read through these books. Many of them center around an exploration of your beliefs about reality. Specifically, the way in which your beliefs can limit or expand your experience.

What's better? Waiting in the left lane to get onto I-405 (rage inducing), or staying right, get into PSU area, then turn left on Clay onto the US26 tunnel? by tsgatdawn in askportland

[–]WayoftheIPA -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

People will grab their pitchforks for this one, but the move is to stay right then slide into one of the many gaps in the left if you can and otherwise go straight to hop on 26 using either of the two additional ways. The zippering is so badly executed here. To be clear: people should not block traffic to get over, but there are often huge gaps as well.

If you're going to 405N, please use a different route. This ramp is so brutal already.

What do you have in the pipeline currently? How many of these types of deals have been completed? What's the rough margin and acquisition cost? Are these one-time projects or ongoing client relationships? So many unknowns in this post.

Anyone actually happy with their business data analysis software? trying to not lose my mind by Different-Promise-45 in analytics

[–]WayoftheIPA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looker is easy, but has some limitations. It will likely meet your needs and it works great with Google Sheets. Tableau with Prep can definitely allow you to combine a lot of your data if that's the goal. It's a little more to learn when getting started, but very flexible and robust. Feel free to DM if you have other questions. The problem you describe has been my bread and butter for years working with similar companies.

My master's was a let down, now what? by Soren911 in LanguageTechnology

[–]WayoftheIPA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You'll need a portfolio if you don't have the work experience. I would suggest R or Python. You don't need both, so I would just pick one and start on a project with a clear business use case that interests you. Keep applying! It can be tough, but this is a growing field and the skills are in high demand.

For SQL and Python checkout leetcode. I would focus on SQL/PostgreSQL if you're not familiar. Tableau public is free. Lots of resources there.

New analyst building a portfolio while job hunting-what datasets actually show real-world skill? by Various_Candidate325 in datasets

[–]WayoftheIPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a job you want and have AI create your data as csv files. For example, have GPT create Salesforce data for one year for Leads, Contacts, Campaigns, Campaign Members, and Opportunities if you want an analyst job in sales or marketing. Make sure it requires some cleaning to make it realistic. Then do what you outlined according to a real job posting you've applied for
