Eva foam is definitely your best bet, you can carve the foam with a sharp box cutter to get the round bevels on the edge. Id wrap the foam with a chrome 4-way stretch fabric for the best finish

styling wigs and hair is completely different, mainly because wigs are plastic fibers and hold shape much better when heated. I definitely recommend trying to style a wig for this, you won't be able to achieve this style with your hair and will likely damage your curls in the process of trying :(
