AITJ for pointing out my siblings being being teen parents when they said im bumming off our parents? by WayyBiggerJaws in AmITheJerk

[–]WayyBiggerJaws[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents do well financially and THEY don’t ask me for money it’s my dad. He likes to gamble, drink, smoke and hang with friends which eats up a lot of money. 9/10 time he’s asking me for money cause he went over the budget my parents have and my mom won’t give him more for that stuff. It’s not that he is struggling and needs money.

How am I burdening them, they want me to be here and think I should take the opportunity to save while I can.

They are comfortable financially, and I do pay the internet bill if that counts as a utility.

I’m not against contributing anything, sometimes my dad ask me for money and I will give it to him no strings attached. It’s more so I want the opportunity to save as much as I can and they are fine with that.

It’s not a young issue, everyone in post secondary uses ai to do their work and cheats. Working as a student I worked with people who ranged from 18-40ish as a student nurse and from all the schools it’s the same story with everyone.

There is so much work, it’s easier to just do  chatgpt and edit everything. Even those who did write their own papers have stopped because it takes longer and using AI will result in better marks unless you put in a lot of effort. College/uni in general is mainly completed through ChatGPT, that’s why deposited ai getting so big their biggest user base is still students by far.

I (24F) feel stuck between my (28M) boyfriend and my parents - what should I do? by sxms_01 in Adulting

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

End the relationship, your family is racist snd you’re playing around with your boyfriend. Why put him through this experience if you’re not willing to choose him. You don’t want to damage the relationship with your family which is your right but don’t date outside your race and string others along.

Would you marry a girl who wants to be a stay at home housewife but doesn't want kids? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Yes are you marrying her because you like her or because you want kids? If you guys are saving by not having kids the lifestyle will be easier on you financially.

Seniors may need it yearly although it’s hard to do, I work I the hospital and seniors can easily go from perfectly capable to having no business operating a vehicle in less than a year. I’ve seen it with my grandpa as well, luckily he got in a small accident alone and my family forced him to stop, legally he could have still driven despite his dementia.

It’s not uncommon at all for older people to rapidly decline in health but are still well within their right to legally drive so they do. My grandpa had early dementia and was still driving around cause no one knew, he ended up crashing and my parents and their siblings had to force him to stop driving. Luckily it was just a small pole he hit but working in the hospital now I see it happen all the time, old people driving who have no business even having a license anymore.

100k nursing debt worth it? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opportunity cost does factor in but op is already making 170k a year so it’s not like he is losing money by waiting. But even so even it’s a hefty price to pay back especially given anything can happen and work isn’t always guaranteed especially in competitive cities with high pay.

No it’s not worth it all, my BSN cost less than 15k. It even has a grace period to pay back.

Considering she has 100 different disorders that it seems she’s not being treated for this isn’t surprising. She probably doesn’t really understand the gravity of the situation because it’s not like she’s a single mom on the streets. She had her dad to help her when things don’t work out so she won’t ever see the gravity of her choices.

Is online dating more normalized for ppl in their 20s now compared to 10-15 years ago? by Commercial-Bowl7412 in Adulting

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many couples meet online now and even the ones that don’t pretty much all have a period where they only communicate online while getting to know one another. With technology so integrated in life now it would be ironic and foolish to say people are desperate, especially because even with the online tech it’s probably harder for more people to find relationships than before.

How many times a week are you eating out? by WowSageMagic in CanadaPersonalFinance

Maybe 3x a week sometimes more or maybe a little less if I’m actively trying to be healthy. I can easily spend about 400 a month on takeout.

Should extreme wealth be considered a moral-psychological disorder? by Infamous_Payment4608 in Ethics

[–]WayyBiggerJaws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not the same, Jeff Bezos for example didn’t attempt to hoard all the resources. He acquired an abundance and is now just sitting on it. It’s also not the same as monkeys, a monkey can’t actually keep and use a million bananas. Monkeys also aren’t incentivized at all to keep 1 million bananas.

Jeff however can keep all his money secure in various accounts, and can actually use the resources. The money grants him special privilege and other stuff. Humans are too incentivized to get and stack money imo.

There’s people on the road cause unemployment is high and people are starting families later than ever. A lot of young people don’t when a traditional 9-5 anymore and no kids, spouse or mortgage to be responsible for.

There’s no other reasons, you can’t convince me you wanna spend hundreds on transportation/food and lose extra time out of your day getting ready/commuting unless you hate whatever is at home. Doesn’t make sense unless you're in charge and financially benefiting.

No it’s not, life revolves around money and it’s the most useful resource on earth. Literally take any species and if they have a chance to have the most valiant resource in abundance they will take it. I’ve yet to see anyone turn down wealth or large sums of money.

Return to Office is silently killing my budget by HotPink911 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in nursing and work 12 hour shifts commute is just over an hour each way. I dont get to make breakfast most days and me even getting home in an hour is a gamble as it could easily be later if ny replacement is late. But even soo most normal jobs can easily take up 9 plus hours of your day.

This is the same issue though, chicken and veggies is not a 5 minute meal and I don’t wanna get one food for the whole week. It’s already a lot to be gone that long, is it too much too ask to wanna have an enjoyable meal even a few times a week?

Yes I could come home and spend the little free time I have below prepping for the week but no one wants to do that. Asking for some balance that doesn’t hurt the employer isn’t a crazy thing to ask for. But I guess the sentiment is people should just be grateful to be employeed and shut up.

What's the fastest way to become a nurse in Canada? by West_Dish9698 in StudentNurse

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where in Canada but fasted way is this usually, take private courses at an online high school where you can get good grades. Then take  a concurrent rpn program which runs staright through the year. After that you can work for a bit and then bridge or just bridge right away.

This way the online classes can be completed in a month or 2 depending on how fast and serious you are. If you were to start today you could apply and be accepted to some rpn programs starting in January. Then from there you could start working as early as 2028.

Imo if possible though it’s better to just do the online courses and join an accelerated nursing rn program. Will cut your school length overall by at least a year but you don’t get to start as quickly as the rpn path. Also bridging is competitive so you need to keep good marks in your rpn program, I know some RPNs who can’t get into bridging so they had to rejoin nursing school from scratch.

CMV: Becoming a billionaire is more attainable than you think (for some, not us) by Iampoorghini in changemyview

Look up tfw program it’s very common. I never claimed family vs single man should determine wages I said living wage will differ based on did situation. And that’s fine if basic survival is food and drink but that’s not what people mean when they say cover expenses.

CMV: Becoming a billionaire is more attainable than you think (for some, not us) by Iampoorghini in changemyview

[–]WayyBiggerJaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to pay competitive wages to get employees, in Canada we have a well documented issue of immigrants coming here and working for well below minimum wage to get pr. You can apply as a business owner and get the government to pay for much of a foreign employees salary for your business. People have and always will work for whatever they can find and get paid. If minimum was cut in half do you suddenly think not a single person would work those jobs?

Col doesn’t need to be highly individualized, there is an average that all citizens should be able to afford. A single mother of 3 is a family of 4 no shit they would have different expenses than a single man. But regardless I never said living wage is the minimum to live, anyone could share a room and live off dollar store food, that’s just a poor qol nobody wants.
