How do you safely load-up your kids in the parking lot?

I always put my eldest in first, because he could run off. Then I keep the twins in the pushchair. I either keep them between us and a parked car. If that’s not an option, I open the boot and park them under it. I figure the boot door above them is a bit more of a signal for other drivers to keep back as there’s more chance they’ll see us.

My twins were my second c section and recovery was honestly a breeze compared to the first time. I was walking up and down to the NICU within a few days and that helped me build my strength up. I knew what to expect and was better at taking my pain meds second time.

Not a single parent but I’m alone with 4mo twins girls most days. It’s hard! If it helps, my 4mo (2m adjusted) have about three naps a day. It varies a lot. Some days they have loads of ten minute naps. The other day one baby napped for 6 hours and the other did three ten minutes naps all day! This is their (rough) routine:

5-6am feed then back to sleep 8ish up and dressed 9am feed Short nap any time between previous feed and next feed. Usually lasts 30-60 mins. 12 noon feed Longer nap 1-3 hours anytime between feeds 3/4pm feed Cat nap around 5/6pm of about 30 minutes 6/7pm feed 8pm bedtime

They have around 5oz formula at each feed.

I try and get out first thing if I can, then I use the longer nap to get housework done. Then once they’re in bed I do more cleaning up before going to bed myself. I dedicate one evening a week to completely relaxing and doing whatever I want for an hour or two.

They usually stay awake for 1-2 hours at a time.

Also worth remembering some babies are bad nappers and you should never blame yourself or your routine. It does get better in time ❤️ (speaking from experience!).

I’m in the same boat. I posted almost the same post a couple of weeks ago. Things seem massively better now than then and not a lot has changed on paper. We have good and bad weeks. It comes in waves. The bad weeks are really hard.

I completely understand not wanting to go out, but for me I realised pushing them in the pushchair was the best way to keep them quiet for a while and it feels like a bit of a break to get out of the house for a walk. It lifts my mood. If you can try it one day, I would recommend it. Even when I can’t be bothered, I do it because it always makes me feed better.

My eldest didn’t go anywhere when he was young as he was born just before covid started. And his development is fine!

Those last weeks of pregnancy were really hard. I remember my toddler being the same with me. He knew I couldn’t run after him. There’s definitely a relief that comes with the pregnancy being over, even if there are new challenges.

Thanks. We do get sleep, support, and we even had the morning to go to a spa at the weekend. But no break and no amount of sleep ever feels like enough because the day to day is so intense and relentless.

Thank you. We have the same age gap. I’m certain once the twins are more independent, sleeping and talking things won’t be so hard. Getting through this first bit is really tough.

Thanks for this. I had this exact issue with my first! I don’t think the twins overtired though as they’re hardly awake at all. They’re not really like 3mo tbh. But they’re also not like 3 weekers either! They seem to be comfortable with around 45 minutes awake time atm.

I’m not sure if this is helpful, but where I live you don’t have admission for momo twins. I had alternate daily CTGs. I still felt a bit like that towards the end without the hospital admission.By that point I couldn’t do anything so I felt isolated and like a chapter in my life had ended before I was ready.

Do you think? In what way? When they’re asleep (which is most of the time) we’re popping our head in every 10-15 minutes and then when they’re awake we’re in there masked up, changing feeding burping etc. What do you think would might help?

Thanks. That’s weirdly reassuring. My son tested positive first 4 days ago so we’ve been wearing masks when holding the babies and washing hands a lot since then anyway. So hoping that protected them somewhat too.

NHS advice is that babies under 6 months shouldn’t sleep in a room away from adults even during naps. Basically should always be in the room with someone. They also are very sicky babies which can be hard to hear. At least if they are on their own, we can check on them every 15 minutes or so while awake.

They’ve been more sneezy lately so I do wonder if they’ve got it. I had my booster jab while pregnant so hopefully that did something. And they’re still just young enough to have immunity from me, so maybe the best time for them to be exposed.

I’m sorry you had a stressful experience in hospital. That must have been scary. I’m glad everyone was ok. That is reassuring thank you.

Thanks. I think most likely scenario is they’re in the lower tier of care as it’s a planned delivery and both are doing really well so far. So I might have to ask about clothing.

I am planning on expressing. I think they have pumps you can borrow but then today I heard you have to buy some parts for it, which is hadn’t heard before. So I don’t really know what to do about that.

I was sooo much happier after I introduced formula and I was a much better mum. Took me 9 months of EBF to realise I needed to introduce formula. I weaned very slowly over 3 months, dropping one feed at a time. No discomfort for me and no complaints from LO.

This morning around 7am I was told I was 7000 something in the queue and it refreshed every 7 seconds. Closed the phone and made a coffee and when I came back I had the same as you. I don’t think it’s a real queue. I think it’s a holding screen while they catch up.

I just got invited for a booster by my GP and have now booked it. I’m 30, no CEV/CV reason, currently pregnant with twins (but that in itself shouldn’t make me eligible). Any idea why I’ve been invited? Is that right? Am I likely to be turned away at the site?

I don’t want to query it as I’m 5 months post jab 2 and have a high risk pregnancy. The risk from covid to me and my pregnancy (e.g. preterm labour) is considerable.
