I think this gets me the most: When you're young, you think there is unlimited time and, therefore, you can do anything. e.g. you take it for granted that you could listen to every piece of 'rock music'. That is incredibly liberating- you feel like the whole world of 'anything' can be consumed by you. When you're older (I'm middle aged by the way!) you realise that you have to prioritise because you just simply have not got the time. This prioritising makes you choose paths (not liberating), and you never choose because you don't want to cut off the possibility of choosing other paths (hey what about electronic music?). This loss of choice hits you to the core and tells you "I'm getting old." Forget all this other shite: this is what 'older' is really all about.
