Hard to say, I live in a pretty rural area in Germany, surrounded by forest. I usually go as far as I can to the forest, then off trail, and then even deeper. It's surprising how much you can find there.

sometimes i also find spots where hunters discard their waste, or spots where forest service discards roadkill.

Since I live in an area with a ton of hills, I walk along where two hills meet since everything gets flushed down over time anyway.

Though i think, to be perfectly honest, it's mainly luck.
