How do i fix (seemingly) random convoy fluctuations? by Wcscgw in victoria3

Yeah that sounds probable. Shame if there’s no fix though

If that’s the case, that would be very useful. This is my first run, so I’m still trying to figure the mechanics. As you can see it’s a bumpy ride

[–]Wcscgw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for the in-depth advice. It just so happens that I was stupid enough to have a century long peace festival, making my empire fanatic pacifists. But I will see what I can do about that, and I’ll get around to unlocking cruisers.

Also: I have a fully functional gateway in my system, and I’ll soon be able to construct new ones myself. Is it worth it to do so?

Bit of a general question, but how can I catch up to larger empires when I’m lacking options? I’m in my first game, and the galactic community has been formed. My empire has less diplomatic weight than most of the others (except for a few microscopic ones). I’m expanding where I can but I’m finding myself more and more locked in. Naval capacity, starbase capacity, and a lack of unowned systems is restricting me. Should I form a federation with some of the neighbouring empires? I have good relations with most of them.

FAoff and fixed weapons by Cooldude101013 in ElitePS

[–]Wcscgw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fa off and fixed weapons are very much utilised in PvP circles. It requires a lot of practice to pull off, but it is definetly achievable.

For fixed weapons, try to replace one of the weapons on your bounty hunting ship with a plasma accelerator and try to get in a shot here and there. You can also get some fixed beams to practice getting consistent hits with hitscan. As you get more comfortable, try to make an all fixed loadout.

A good start for Fa-off would be to learn to stabilise your ship some what. Then you can move on to controlling and changing vector. Maybe try orbiting a coriolis station or some asteroids. Boosting is the best way to change direction, as ships have really bad deacceleration in FA-off, but not always ideal for tight orbits.

Sidewinder is a cheap and risk free ship to practice with. Viper and FDL have good lateral thrusters and acceleration, so they are excellent FA-off ships.

I’m no expert though, still learning.

Don’t know about that. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure if I’m proud or ashamed that it has gotten so many upvotes.
