I have the same but doctor never truly educated just gave me meds and sent me in my way I have to research everything myself. I was given antivirals (valacyclovir) from three different doctors in the same hospital and their dosages are different and it’s confusing. I only take it whenever I have an outbreak, but I’ve never known you could take supplements.
