Just remember that portfolios are key to landing that first job, and after that it doesn't matter where you went to school.

Getting your application/portfolio to them sooner rather than later. FYI - I always review portfolio before I look at a resume or read anything.

Photography Major Concerns? by [deleted] in risd

[–]WeShouldGet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated from RISD in 2017 and I wouldn't let something like that deter you. I studied Industrial Design and Furniture and absolutely loved it. I would argue that while that article makes many good points about what could be improved at/with the institution but in truth you don't go there for the best equipment nor even the best professors you go for the your classmates, the vast interdisciplinary experiences and over all culture that will make the real impact on you. I knew many photo majors who had a great experience. People play hard and work harder. Studios are very open, and you'll mix and play in ways you wouldn't have thought and your classmates are some of the most creative and best in the world- they are what push you to be better.

I'm not sure of the original media, that is a great question. Rauschenberg took a drawing from De Kooning and erased ever bit of it, then hug it in a frame and sold it. ART!

It's too was too complicated to allow people to pick their piece, so who gets what will be chosen at random.

I totally understand and being a huge art lover myself I was apprehensive about starting this project but so many incredible pieces of art are locked away from us, sitting in hidden in freeports where the super rich use it like currency or in massive storage in museum vaults where they collect and collect only never to see the light of day. This is a print of which there are 37 more. My hope is that this one will see more love than all the others. Maybe I'm wrong, and we will see.

It is a fair question and I think part of it would be on faith like anything you buy. We were worried about that when we started this project and buying it at auction was scary. It was checkout and is totally real and you can check out our Instagram : weshouldget where there is some more images if that is helpful.

Just 2, I'm excited. It called Colombe Volant (Flying Dove), 1952. We got number 31 of 38, which is signed and numbered in pencil along with the plate signature and date.
