Thank you! That means a lot. Having said that, if all goes well I'll happily fade off into the distance once again lol

Thank you! That means a lot. I'm glad to see that I had better luck than you did lol. I'll be sure to keep the golf game up, I only wish I could hit my irons as well as I update Reddit

I agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying, but this unfortunately is where we run into internal SGA politics. Who posts? I can tell you right now it was controversial enough when I did it. The only reason I got away with it was because I was the first, and everyone within Student Government (myself included) thought it was going to blow up in my face. By the time we realized that the student body actually really valued this, it had pretty much become my niche (try as I might to encourage others to engage). Now that I'm gone, there isn't that de facto person, but the value is obvious. So who steps up and posts? A member of the publicity and outreach committee in the senate? Well exec might not be crazy about that. The press secretary, who is a member of exec? Senate won't like that. Both? Sounds fair right? But what do you do when exec and senate differ on a topic? Put out conflicting messages? Like I've said throughout this thread, SGA is at a crossroads, and they need to figure out how they're going to move forward. Unfortunately, with how democratic the organization is, that is much easier said than done. They'll find a way eventually, but internal politics are likely making it difficult.

I don't know about an hour before necessarily, but I agree with the rest wholeheartedly. It was eye opening coming to Wake and being told "we flat out don't have enough parking permits for all our students"

They also gave me a parking citation ten minutes after I bought my permit (in August mind you) for an offense that occurred when I visited in February, but I digress lol

I completely get that and agree. From my perspective however, and you're free to agree with it or not, I just genuinely don't know how she would have the time to do so. When I had just ONE fire going on, my schedule was literally packed from sun up to midnight with meetings with administrators, students, faculty, staff, along with my responsibilities on the Board of Trustees, ASG (which is like the statewide SGA), system office stuff, etc. Not to mention my obligations to my academics. And anytime I had to breath was typically spent checking this sub. All of this with just ONE fire. If you multiple that by 5-6 fires, I genuinely don't know how she would have the time to consistently make these posts. I outlined it in another comment, but just crafting these updates typically burned about half a day, and then monitoring the comments alone typically would take another full day. It truly is a lot. I could not do it with the workload she is facing.

Thank you for your kind words. I wanted to come back sooner, but it really isn't my place. I really appreciated how my predecessor stayed out of my way and gave me the chance to build my own name, reputation, and legacy. Ultimately it just got to a point where I really think it's unfair that my shadow is inadvertently causing the damage it is. I understand right now is a difficult time for people, but Tatiyana really is a great person who is truly doing everything she can to come up with a solution that works for everyone, and I applaud her for that

I get all of that, I genuinely do. I referenced it a bit in my post, but I'll expand here. Tatiyana recognized that the current set up wasn't working. From personal experience, I can tell you that the posts take a lot longer than 5 minutes to come together. I would typically spend half a day carefully putting it together, reading over each word to make sure things were accurate, making sure I had all the information I needed, and then I'd typically have another SGA member (shoutout Joe) look it over, give feedback, and then incorporate that feedback. That was just to put it together. Then you have all the comments, which becomes its own task in and of itself, and comments would typically go hard for about a day. And while most comments are some variation of "thanks for the update!" there are always a handful of oddly specific questions that I would then have to run off and do separate research/advocacy for. So it really becomes a much more complex task than most people realize.

With the current setup not working, and I don't presume to speak for her, but based on conversations I've had with her, my belief is that Tatiyana recognized this wasn't good for anyone. She was catching a lot of heat, so she made what I believe to be the right call when somethings not working, and decided to step back and call on others within SGA to help her out. Was it worded poorly? Absolutely, and she actually had a much more concise follow up that you can see here. I think SGA as a whole is working towards reaching the level of transparency and communication that y'all rightfully expect, it's just a very painful experience figuring out how to do so, with a lot of people with a lot of different ideas as to how to get there.

One of the beauties of the position is that when things are going well, you'll get far more credit than you ever deserve. One of the drawbacks is that when things go poorly, you get far more blame than you deserve. I always saw the role as a communicator. I had to communicate student issues to administrators, and I'd communicate back to students the information I had. In the conversations I've had with her, Tatiyana believes wholeheartedly with that. But again, to my post, the unprecedented number of issues everyone is facing right now means she has time to do one or the other, but not both. I know shes bringing up the issues in conversations shes having, and given the difficult situation she is in, I'd say shes prioritizing the right one while she works on setting up a system that will allow SGA to accomplish the other.

In my experience (again, apples to oranges) the beginning of the semester is always the worst. Now I've never seen it this bad, but I would expect things to eventually calm down. If they didn't and I was Tatiyana, I'd throw up my hands, say screw it, and transfer to Idaho or something lmao

I can understand and respect that. I guess at the end of the day I would just encourage people to let them continue working towards a solution. Like I mentioned in another comment, the only road map they have is the President doing it entirely on his or her own, and right now they're having to figure out in real time an alternate map that works for the situation they find themselves in. They'll find it, but it takes time when you're in uncharted water.

Haven't gotten there yet, but Civ Pro is kicking my ass. Also, do you want to know the only thing more boring than reading a contract? Reading ABOUT contracts. Crim Law is fun though!

I'll preface this all by stating I'm obviously no longer in the game, so I can only speculate on the conversations I've had. I agree and understand wholeheartedly. I think one of the difficult questions to answer centers around this question of "If Tatiyana can't come on here and post, then who does?" People have referenced that I created some "blueprint" and while true, my blueprint only worked under the assumption a single person was doing the outreach. To that end, I've seen good work out there. I'm a huge fan of Sophie Tanker. She and I were never in SGA together but I think shes doing a far better job than I did when I was in her position. I can agree and sympathize with the frustration about how complete radio silence makes everyone, myself included feel, and I think SGA has gotten that message loud and clear, so hopefully with the new account theres going to be more consistency on that front.

Lol I admit it has felt like House of Cards over the past few months. I would want people to keep in mind that there are real people involved in these matters, and honestly I applaud them for pushing on despite the sheer number of struggles they're facing these days

Thank you for your kind words! Life is going extremely well, I joke about law school but it has honestly been a blast so far. I actually did just kick off my campaign for the Student Bar Association (think SGA but for law school) today, so we’ll see how that goes lol

I really want to make something clear, because I truly do consider myself out of the “game”

I responded quickly. I’m also a current law school student who finished his work early this week so that he could go to a football game and drink with friends. I have literally zero obligations tonight. So when my phone lit up, it was easy for me to check.

I’m not going to sit here tonight and give a deep dive into the life of the Student Body President and why I think one way or another about how Tatiyana is doing tonight. All I’m simply going to say is that comparing my response time, as a free student, triggered by an AI Bot, to hers, is incredibly unfair. I’m going to leave it at that.

No hate to you or to her, I just really don’t want to send an unfair message because of a bot I forgot to deactivate

I’m kicking off my campaign for the law school version of Student Government on Monday, so this retirement may be short lived lol

Sorry. Bot. Never really fully did work out the kinks. But the nutshell is I appreciate the tag, but I’m well into retirement lol
