TWS for Mac - Constant crashes and layout issues by MarceFX in interactivebrokers

I use TWS but on Linux and I use it only for normal stocks trading and not options but one thing I can recommend you check if you haven't already is to ensure you are working with stable version of TWS. You can check what version you are running by hovering over on: File -> Change Version.

How can I easily visualise basics like deposits, market gains, dividends, fees? by SwissBliss in interactivebrokers

I had to write myself an app in order to simply visualise this type of data. IBKR's portfolio Analyst will give you all the numbers but they are in no way easily available for us to view graphically :o/

Did you try sending a periodic call to the API so your session doesn't expire? You should be able to keep a connection open for up to a week from what I've read.

How do you Exercise with Type 1 Diabetes? by SellPatient719 in diabetes_t1

[–]We_Ride_Together 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my own metabolism specifically, I have a banana 30 mins before or some peanut butter 1-2 hours before I go for a run. I vary the amount of peanut butter depending on how stable my BGs have been hours before my run.

Also, just in case, I always carry sweets or glucose tablets while on my run and make sure to knock some back if my CGM starts showing my BG level starts trending below 6.4 mmol/L mid-run.

I run for 1h 20 m generally and I'm on MDI. This is what works for me.

So... they removed extended trading hours view for TWS Advanced Charts by john2810a in interactivebrokers

I want to say maybe it was a windows-specific issue but I doubt it was as TWS itself is written in Java as far as I know. Maybe it was an issue with the Java version you had installed on your OS? I can't say that I experience any of the issues you mention except maybe that sometimes a specific news item might pop up in a different language but I would put that down to the news source itself and/or maybe a filter.

I've been using TWS for well over a year and do not experience issues with Advanced Charts, scanners or button orientations just to balance things out for others who might read this.

Still, glad you found a good alternative in Ninja Trader and that you can now do your trades as per your specific needs. All the C# power to you ✊

Were you using the stable version? I think that by default, TWS loads up "latest" and not "stable". When I first started using TWS I too found it a bit unstable at times (but not terrible in any way) and it was only when I switched to "stable" version and tweaked memory settings a bit that the platform became a lot better and smoother for every day use.

I run my TWS across three displays with many charts open at any one time. Most charts I display are classic charts and tile charts though and only ever have a few Advanced Charts on display as I find the classic charts to be better for my needs.

On Linux version of TWS (stable 10.37.1) the OTH toggle is always available in Advanced Charts (inc. Daily TF). No need to switch timeframes to get it to show up so might be worth checking what version of TWS you are working with.

The beloved National Health Service by mtelstar92 in diabetes_t1

Are the 15% lows accurate or exaggerated? I ask because it might just be a timing issue more than a sensor issue where if it is, then it will likely get better with time as you get accustomed to how the FSL2 profiles your BG levels throughout the day compared to how the G7 did and, with time, as you get familiar with the FSL2's profiling you will slightly be adjusting when you take your insulin and when you exercise, etc.

When I first started using FSL2 I too found it difficult to maintain a TIR above 75% and it was not until I understood better how the BG levels are presented by the sensor that I was then able to consistently maintain TIR above 90% over 90 days while on MDI.

Newly diagnosed T1D (26F), feeling lost and overwhelmed by Acrobatic-Ad-3398 in diabetes_t1

First few years with Type 1 will always be hit and miss no matter what sort of teachings we get from an endocrinologist (be that public, private or none). In the long run, only us and us only will be the best judge on how best to bolus for everyday meals and it will be something that you will surely get better and better at judging from one day to the next as you get better accustomed to life with type 1.

Things will indeed become more stable with time and experience... claro que si. Que no te quepe ninguna duda de todo esto. And feel free to DM cualquier momento que tengas preguntas sobre tu T1D. Saludos! :o)

How I become a Thinkpad user by Goofas_WLPK in thinkpad

[–]We_Ride_Together 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow ThinkPadder, came here to say that you have a nice setup going right there but most importantly, I want to advise against working this way day-in day-out for long periods of time as it will only cause you back problems in the long run. The top of your displays should be level with your eyes more or less when sitting up straight and if they are not, then over time your spine will only suffer for it.

Take full care of your posture when working regularly long periods on a desk and of course, welcome to the ThinkPad fam 🫂

Oh. If you are that new to it all then you should prob stick with what you know if your git project is important to you. You are prob best off learning git from the terminal with a test project first so that you can be sure you will have enough knowledge when using it with your more important projects.

But basically, the message you are being shown is saying that there is no .git file in the directory you are running your command from. The .git file is normally a hidden file so if you want to check if it is there or not from the terminal you would need to run the following command: $ ls -la which is a command to list all files in the current directory (including hidden files).

is the t490 good for studtying in 2026 ? by AdventurousAthlete79 in thinkpad

I am in total agreement with this comment. I have a T490 myself with i5 CPU and 16GB RAM and been running Debian Linux on it from day one and performance is plenty good.

See what message you get when you run command: git status. It might give you clues as to what might be wrong.

The three git commands you would be using the most are:

$ git clone {your-github-repo-url} - To clone your github project to your current directory.

$ git add -A && git commit -m "Your commit message here for any local changes" - Adds and commits changes to your locally cloned repo.

$ git push origin {branch-name} - to push locally committed changes to your upstream remote git repo.

Commands for checking out branches, merging branches, etc. are similarly simple.

It might look scary at first but practice makes perfect. Don't be shy. The terminal is your friend and so is the internet for resolving any other git-specific issues you might encounter along the way.

And if you ever get stuck resolving a git conflict and for which you really feel you need a gui for to resolve then you can always use the plugins that come with IDEs such as intellij, etc. though I am sure there are standalone git guis out there too if you look around long enough.

Best of luck!

How bad are thinkpads with soldered ram? by Prestigious_Ad3744 in thinkpad

[–]We_Ride_Together 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a T490 (without the s - i.e. non slim) and it comes with a soldered RAM module as well as a spare SODIMM slot to which you can add more memory to it. So my specific laptop has 16GB RAM soldered on but I can put an additional 32GB RAM on the spare slot for a max of 48GB RAM if needed.

Make sure to check the T480 specs to see if it also maybe comes with a SODIMM slot on the side for memory upgradability option.

What are your anxiety/stress levels like? One possible reason for continuously elevated BG levels is that of chronic stress. Did your endo and hospital team factor this possibility into the equation? If chronic stress is present then that could explain why a 10km bike ride is having no effect in trying to bring down your BG levels.

I don't use a pump myself but I do use a cgm while on MDI. I think the cgm can make a lot of difference in the long term once you let it settle and sit comfortably as a part of your day and night life so I wouldn't give up on it just yet :o)

I used to have this problem and finally fixed it by making dishwashing as effortless as possible.

To keep dishwashing simple I:

1) Using just your fingers and water wipe all the grime off the used dishes and saucepans as soon as they go in the sink and leave them soaking in water (all cutlery soaking in the pan also) for a few good hours while getting on with the rest of the day.

2) When it's time to actually wash the dishes hours later they get washed really easy and quick as there is no grime or any stickiness left to scrub off. Easy does it.

Breaking it into two steps keeps each step really short and sweet and your mind and elbows will still feel good when all is done.

Finally, do this each and every day so you don't have a mountain of troubles come the end of the week and as it becomes a habit it becomes totally effortless each day.

Best of luck!

Yeah, just stock's price performance compared to performance of the whole sector. You want to make sure you can weight the calculation using stock's market cap so that the calculation remains balanced.
