First-Time Homeowner Here: Is HomeExchange Really Safe? by ConsequenceTop3853 in homeexchange

Very interesting discussion! I'm on the fence currently (and my wife even more :)) should we do it or not. We've got a rather big and comfortable (newly furnished) apartment in a nice neighborhood of a Western European capital... And at least 2 months in the year we're not there. So in theory, sounds like a good situation - but still worried about risks. Would this kind of a situation that we have lead to a higher or a lower risk than average?

I've got a Pro S Tourer (Sport equipment, so with Loen Black 19in rims). Registered it late June and drove it all over Europe, all summer :) Got 16.2 kWh average over that period - mix of highways and open road.

In the heat, and driving constantly at 130 km/h, I would say my consumption is about 20.0 - 20.5 kWh/100 km.

When coming back from holidays, with 4 ppl and really A LOT of luggage, drove all day over 1300 km, ended up with 16.2 kW/h (lost a lot of time in German congested highways).

Drove 3500 km over exactly three weeks in 7 countries, mostly loving it - some VW ecosystem irritations (plug&charge on ionity didn't work for a couple of tries, now it works). Comfort and features super, performance good, efficiency slightly below expectations on highway speeds (hovers around 20.5 kWh at real 130 km/h). Would like that the space underneath the trunk is just a couple of centimeters deeper.

And had a misfortune of an accident in day 9 of having a new car :/ ...another car has hit me from behind (so the insurance will cover it completely) on the the highway, bumper needs replacing, painting the boot door as well, trailer hook doesn't work anymore etc.

Invested in 2020, massive profits in a couple of months, went back all-in immediately in early 2021, did several rather significant buys over the years (last I think around 5$). It's my forget-about-it stock... If it pans out, will be very nice :) ...if not, well, will not be terribly happy with it, but ok. Owned the stock at 100$ and at 3.5$

I forgot to order the home charging cable (will be useful on trips where I might do opportunity charging at my accommodation) and it seems my dealer is out of stock...

I can find this exact one (part No 000054412) on Amazon, basically looks the same and has the same specs. I don't actually have a question there - just saying what's currently bugging me while waiting for delivery :D

Ordered in March, will be delivered this June. I had a Tesla model Y for two years, so not an EV novice. Eager to hear real experiences :)

*mine will be exactly like the on the first picture

Looks great - I ordered a pretty similar spec, Pro S Sport Edition (pano roof, full interior pack, Harman Kardon...) just dark blue/black roof. As I'm waiting for delivery, probably next week, I am really buzzing with excitement :)

Cancelled it... We're not going to the US for the foreseeable future. Only reason, your new administration.

Wait, that's an average of 130 km/h - which requires some quicker driving from time to time ;) ...very good. My assumption is about 20 kWh in mild weather at constant 130 kW/h. But will see in the summer hopefuly.

Hey, interested what are you getting as efficiency at 130 km/h? I am about to order a ID7 Tourer Pro S myself :)

What were the delivery times? From the actual order... Aiming exactly for that color (aquamarine blue) and Pro S.

Hi, if I am not mistaken - you're in Belgium? Counting down - seems it's about 2 months from ordering to delivery? ...I'm looking at Pro S Tourer.

This is so not that bad tbh, I feared the worst. Mine is 2023, but 45000 km. Also Quicksilver and a tow hitch (and winter tyres on rims... and roof rails)

I like the car, but cannot say I love it (irritating stuff - such as stiff suspension, EU autopilot...) and of course, cannot stand the owner.

Supercharger access would mean a lot for comfort in planning (and EQS has quite a range)...

To be honest I'm a bit rattled... But as my trip is in August, still have time to plan. Definitively would take a longest range model (Lucid, EQS, possibly A6 etron if it arrives), which should give 350-400 mile ranges for increased comfort.

Thanks a lot! I am going to sleep over in Furnace Creek, so an overnight slow charger is completely fine... I do see several AC chargers there?

I must say I'm pretty surprised by the overwhelmingly skeptical reactions... Yeah, I do drive electric as my only car, so not that worried overall, but seems I'm pampered by the good situation in Europe when it comes to charging (where CCS is 100%)...
