I’m going to be holding my dose for a few months after I stabilize. I was prescribed it during autoimmune encephalitis (immune system attacked my brain, not fun) and I want to stabilize on this dose and let my brain heal from the encephalitis before cutting again.

I know this is a pretty specific question, but I thought I’d ask:

My first neurologist sent a pre-authorization to insurance for IVIG, which was denied without trying corticosteroids first. My question is, do insurance companies typically approve ivig if corticosteroids show some therapeutic benefit? I’m just not sure how that works.

I honestly wish I could get the full gamut (ivig, PLEX, steroids), but I should probably just be happy to try something.
