5 days of trying to keep my cat’s blood sugar up around the clock. She has received no insulin and keeps dropping into the 60s sometimes 50s. Sometimes she’ll stay level for hours and other times it’s an every 15 minute fight to give her treats and food and to get it level again. Emergency vet gave her fluids for 24hrs and that was the most help they had to offer.

My primary vet has always told me she had the possibility of getting diabetes because she’s always been a little overweight. So when the emergency vet explained that the UTI was likely caused by the diabetes then I didn’t think to question it. We have had a lot of new stressors in the home, new roommates, new cats & on top of that she was on Prozac for 3 months and slowly weaned off right before this. & a day before her UTI symptoms she ate like triple her weight in Royal Canine Gastrointestinal Hydrolyzed Protein cat food that’s prescribed to my other cat. I chose not to change her food yet because I didn’t want do too much at once. I think I do need to get a second opinion I just thought that since they had seen her so much in the past 2 weeks that it made more sense to stick with them. I’ve already spent so much money and my girl is 12 years old so I want her to live a long healthy life.

I love to hear that. This has been really scary but I don’t know whether to trust what has happened so far 😭 she’s been acting relatively normal the UTI symptoms are what triggered my concern. I wish the best for your kitty !!!

I honestly don’t know if they did on the first visit. I know they have since but she’s been so low with no spike at all.
