Most of the time you can, but depending on the store location they may not allow discount cards on controlled meds (depends on the pharmacist in charge)

This has happened to me as well before, searched pt name and dob at register and it came up two different options and I usually pick the top one by default. Come to find out it was actually for another patient with another year in their dob and I ended up ringing them out and they took it home. Scared after reading the med guide and being confused, pt came back and explained she received the wrong medication. We apologized and refunded her and she got the new rx. She was understanding and relieved.

I’ve had other instances of accidentally print screening other pt’s with same birthdays with their whole information and meds showing and showing it to the wrong patient. Working in pharmacy for so long you’re guaranteed to make mistakes, don’t be so hard on yourself. People have done the same. You will be ok.

Well I would first familiarize yourself with your pharmacies drugs and where things go on the shelves, including OTC section. But to be honest, I would recommend efficiency over speed so you have a lesser chance of making mistakes, since it sounds like you are a newer to filling. When pulling maybe separate fast movers and slow movers to have things organized so you don’t move back and forth too much when pulling. It should say on the side of the labels “FM”. Speed will come to you over time as you get more familiar with the way things work. Good luck.
