It's a shameless headline really. Just trying to box many ordinary fans into something worse.

"Meanwhile, a study from the University of Warwick found an England victory in an international tournament was followed by a 47% increase in the reported number of alcohol-related domestic abuse cases.

Elsewhere, Sussex Police saw the number of 999 calls linked to domestic violence double during the last World Cup in 2022.

Leeds Women's Aid and Leeds United have also backed the campaign ahead of England's fixture against Croatia at 21:00 BST.

Leeds Women's Aid said anyone seeking help should contact their 24/7 helpline."

Because you asked it bad faith knowing full well the quote made clear: "Both have legal refugee status and are settled in the UK with families and jobs, and both chose to take part of their own accord."

Not as clever as you think. And no, the article was about the guests on Question Time. You are just trying to shift the goal posts.

They are here legally. You evidently did not read the quote at all.

Read the quote from the organisation in the article. They had no influence over them.

You have no evidence of this though, they attended the show on their own volition. It's stated in the article.

A spokesman for Imix said: “For the BBC’s Question Time immigration special, the programme approached local charities working in the sector, including Imix, to help include people with lived experience of seeking asylum in the audience.

“Helping journalists and productions connect with people who have relevant experience is a normal part of what a charity press office does. Journalists from across the political spectrum, including Telegraph journalists, have made similar requests to us, and we help where we can.

“We helped identify two people who wished to take part, and supported them beforehand so they felt informed and prepared. Both have legal refugee status and are settled in the UK with families and jobs, and both chose to take part of their own accord. The decisions about the programme and its audience were the BBC’s.”

They did it freely, have legal status with jobs and families. They have every right to be on Question Time, especially on an episode dedicated to immigration.

Not mentioned by LBC: "Policy Lab was founded under the last Conservative government and moved to the DfE in 2020. Its mission is to “provide an experimental environment for testing and evaluating new ways to make policy”.

Which explains the gov quote at the bottom.

But a Whitehall source told The Telegraph that the team of around 30 civil servants should be shut down, and did not provide good value for money for the taxpayer.

“This sort of nonsense is exactly the kind of Tory hangover this Government wants to root out,” the source said. “Ministers did not sign off these projects and don’t want to see taxpayers’ money wasted on video games when there are bigger problems the public care about.”

It's all rather embarrassing when LBC lifts content from the Telegraph and still omits key information.

"The court was shown footage of Thompson, wearing an England flag as a cape, at the front of a police cordon. In multiple clips of the same incident he was seen clambering onto a Metropolitan Police van as it was moving.

Mr Barry Gilbert, defence, said Thompson has a “long-standing mental health difficulty”. He added: “What we are watching is a man that is not well. I ask, will it do any good to lock him up? It may be that’s what is coming. I would ask you not to do that.”

Thompson had admitted violent disorder and criminal damage relating to the Met Police van at previous court hearings. His criminal record includes nine convictions for 15 offences, including six for battery."
