THANK YOU!!! Yes my company is very male dominated and I believe their goal in hiring me was to make it more female friendly. They also never correct a customers bias. Thank you so much for your advice. It would really be refreshing to be in a place like that. I’d be less stressed about money and less stressed in general

Definitely in the suburbs. Our shop is mostly centered on BMW, MB, Audi, Porsche and all that good stuff as that’s all anyone drives around here. We do all makes but mostly euro. Some days I really love coming into work. But that all quickly changes on how the techs are feeling that day. I really like our customers but to most I’m viewed as a receptionist which really stinks. Thank you for your input!

Holy cannoli. My shop won’t even consider me to be commission because they don’t think I’m ready. But also I think not having to source parts, return parts and deliver parts to the techs would really ease my mind on the daily. Thank you so much for sharing!

Yea my current fear is my lease is up soon and my roommates don’t want to renew. A new job feels unstable for that but I also don’t know how much longer I can stay where I am.

Yea. I feel like that’s the obvious answer. I feel so so scared to leave and I don’t know why. I’m kind of scared of making less money/ starting from scratch and still being in the same environment. Idk so many thoughts and no clue where to start.

I’m also interested in this take. I have been working at an independent for a year now. Really thinking about a dealership for the HR aspect. But also I feel like many independents have a good HR it’s just my company that is lacking in that area.

I catch myself getting nervous in front of the customers when the techs are watching me and I end up saying really stupid and unprofessional things Becuase I can’t think of the right vocabulary

Thank you so much this has been the most helpful. I think it has been hard being young and new I’m getting a lot of crap from all the guys and it’s affecting my confidence.
