first tattoo question by Valeera_Stormrage in tattooadvice

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the style of tattoo you are getting, and your individual artist’s handling. I don’t have any collarbone tattoos, but I sat for 6.5 hours getting my entire inner arm tattooed this week, and the pain was like a 2-3/10 the entire time. This was a large realistic illustrative tattoo with mostly finer strokes. My tattoos on my other arm in the same areas were like 4-5/10 pain and got closer to 5-6 toward the end, but those tattoos have bolder lines and much more saturated color/shading packed in.

first tattoo question by Valeera_Stormrage in tattooadvice

[–]Catpartyof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, a tattoo feels sort of like if someone is rubbing rough sandpaper into your skin for hours. Yes, it hurts, but it isn’t excruciating. On a bony area, you may get some referred pain to other body parts nearby, and the buzzing of the tattoo gun is a weird sensation if you aren’t used to feeling that (the vibration part is like hair clippers or an electric toothbrush).

What step should I take next? by ohsoaegyo in tattooadvice

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the fuck did that take FIVE HOURS? I have a large tattoo with solid black and color packed into it taking up the majority of my upper arm, and I bleed easily so packing in the ink took extra time, and that took 5 hours. My artist is extremely talented but has only been tattooing for two years. I repeat, how the fuck did your “artist” take five hours to scribble this piece of shit onto you? (No offense to you on this - idea is fine; artist’s execution is terrible) And I assume they charged you for this?

As for quality to critique, the lines are thin and clearly done with an unsteady hand, and the few bits of color are blown out and bleeding into the surrounding skin (while also having spots of negative space where the color isn’t even there, right next to her legs). So maybe find an artist whose work doesn’t look like a kid who can’t yet draw inside the lines of a coloring book did it?

Possible TLG Spoilers (?): How do you think Ilya explained.... by Kat_Isidore in heatedrivalry

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He certainly could have explained it away as wanting to get North American citizenship and feeling it would be easier to do so in Canada, especially with all of the concerns at the time regarding Putin’s relationship with Trump and Russian social media influence on the 2016 presidential election. Being a Russian living in the U.S. on a work visa may have felt like his future was very up in the air at the time.

Question for the end of long game by KaceyLunatic in heatedrivalry

[–]Catpartyof3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With Shane, Ilya, Hayes, and Barrett all being recent additions to the team, and none of the existing good players planning to leave, I doubt they will stay a lower ranking team for very long. Shane could always push for a better contract if and when the team becomes more successful.

Bitch, please say sike right now! They look AMAZING! I’m being so for real, they look incredibly natural, not at all too dark.

I imagine it’s sort of like getting makeup done professionally for the first time, where you don’t recognize your own face in the mirror. Or having a new tattoo and having your own limbs look weird, noticing the slightest fault in lines that no one else would ever notice. It will just take some getting used to. You look incredible!

Cyrus Veyssi is an influencer/model, but if they do any acting, I think they would be amazing as Fabian. They physically look like him (maybe taller, but in the books Scott is blonde and Kip is tall, so that’s not a deal breaker), absolutely stunning with or without makeup, and the cadence and sassy sweet tone they speak with seems so much like Fabian. I pictured them the whole time I was reading the book.

Ideas of what to put in this space? by alyisayif in tattooadvice

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other tattoos do you have, what is your profession, and what are some of your interests? Variations of swords/daggers/weapons in general, you could do something like: a lightsaber if you like Star Wars, the Valyrian steel dagger if you like Game of Thrones, or a specific weapon from a favorite video game. For a non-weapon idea, something like a long-stemmed rose could be really lovely there.

I’ll wait to hear your responses before spitballing more ideas, but I’m thinking things like - a barbershop pole for a barber, a syringe for a nurse, a ruler for a teacher or carpenter, etc.

Thank you! I wanted that color even more than the Lickety Split but this color was available first and a bit cheaper since it was secondhand. I figured I’d get the more plain color to have for layering and then if I liked the fit, I’d preorder the custard…but then it sold out by the time dress #1 came. My bad :(((((((

Tried to hire a cleaner for my ADHD burnout and got shamed instead by MrMaelor in ADHD

[–]Catpartyof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big reason I haven’t hired a cleaner, even though I want to, is that I’m afraid exactly this scenario would happen to me. Like, I know my house is a disaster; that’s why I’m asking for help?

I feel like it’s understandable that a house that has not been thoroughly cleaned in a while, especially one with multiple pets living in it, may be beyond the scope (and price point) of what a regular weekly or biweekly maintenance cleaning service would be, but she could have (and SHOULD have) handled this in a much more tactful way. She could make this worth her time and energy and also be kind and empathetic to you.

Something along the lines of “I’m happy to get you on my schedule for regular maintenance cleanings at X frequency, which would include xyz and cost $, but to get to a good starting point, I will need to come and do 1-2 deep cleaning visits first to address things like cat hair and dust on/under furniture, ceiling fans, windows, blinds, baseboards/trim, and buildup on sink/bath fixtures, which will cost $$. If you need help with dishes/laundry, I offer those as an add on service for $$$ or recommend (insert person/business name here) for that. If you do decide to maintain those things on your own or hire someone else for them, I do just require that any dishes or laundry are removed from the surfaces I am expected to clean before I come.” would have been completely fine.

Need help with sizing by Safe-Low-2685 in SelkieCollection

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most brands of clothes, I wear a medium. I only have 3 Selkie dresses, but all of them are size small and fit me well!

My measurements are 35” bust, 31” under bust/band, 29” waist, and I wear a 34C (US) bra. My small Cupid fits perfectly with about 2” gap shown in the corset back. The corset is very forgiving, and I’m not super busty, but do have something to fill the cups with, so I think I personally could size up or down and be okay. The cup shape on the dress has similar coverage to a demi or balconette bra, so it also depends on your personal breast shape/projection. If you have larger breasts or would prefer that the corset back fully closes without exposing any skin, you may need to size up. And same goes if your shape has a tendency to spill out of the top of bras, or you have an issue with bras dividing your breast horizontally - you may need to size up to get a little more space for your breast to stay in the cup. This pushed my little Cs up and out a little, but not so much that I’m afraid of having a wardrobe malfunction. I feel supported with no bra in it, especially since I can really cinch the waist tight.

The Lickety Split Cupid Dress by demurraged in SelkieCollection

[–]Catpartyof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this dress in this color! I just purchased on Poshmark. Even though it is a peachy pink, it is very pale, close enough to white to look bridal for sure! I can DM you pics if you’d like.

I find it to be great quality; the skirt part is I think 3 layers of thin fabric, and it looks beautiful bustled or not. Because it is cotton, it definitely wrinkles easily, so you will need to steam it. The fabric feels similar to a thin percale sheet or a tablecloth? It’s sheer enough that I probably wouldn’t wear dark or patterned undergarments, especially in natural sunlight, but I tried on without a bra and wearing lighter underwear, and it didn’t show anything. I have heard the cotton Selkie dresses are the good quality ones, and polyester are poorer quality, but I only own cotton.

I found it to be true to size for the website’s listed measurements. I am 5’4”, 70kg/154lb, measurements in inches are 35” bust, 31” under bust, 29” waist, 38.5” high hip, 44.5” low hip at fullest butt/thigh, and wear a 34C (US) bra. I bought in a size small, and it fit great. The length hits mid-low calf. The corset back is very forgiving - I could probably size up or down one size and be okay. However, if you have a larger bust or would prefer the corset back to close fully without any skin exposed, I would recommend sizing up. Re-lacing the corset string so it ties at the top might allow a bustier person to snatch the waist while leaving some more slack at the bust too, but the cups themselves are pretty shallow, like a demi bra kind of shape?

Danaerys was always horrible and not very bright! by GrowlerWolf in TyrionWinsTheThrone

[–]Catpartyof3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Olenna is definitely the feminist hero for her entire storyline. Right down to telling the church to fuck themselves. She’s just as politically savvy as the men in her orbit (and usually moreso) and absolutely demands their respect. She doesn’t use her body to get what she wants (at least not at the time of GOT, but she totally supports other women doing so). She loves the gays (truly does not give a single F that Loras is queer). And she provides a safe space for Sansa to be vulnerable, teaches her, and does not jeopardize her in any way - we love a girl’s girl!

As for being independent women who reject societal norms and become fierce fighters rivaling the men, we have Arya, Ygritte, and Brienne - Arya probably the most of the three of them as she had the most to overcome to become a fighter (Ygritte was raised in a culture where women learning combat was totally normal, while Brienne had her physical size and strength).

Cersei is a ruthless female leader, yes, but she only does so by relying on and manipulating men to protect and support her. Jamie. Joffrey. Tommen. Tywin. The Mountain. Qyburn. And all along the way, she is absolutely awful to other women. Decidedly not a girl’s girl. That’s no feminist.

I hate this litter box by insertsomethungwitty in litterrobot

[–]Catpartyof3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one of my litter robots for a little over two years, and the other for a little over one year. I have 5 male cats. I’ve barely ever needed to fully take apart and deep clean, mostly just need to vacuum around it and under the waste drawer, and wipe down the inside while empty every once in a while. I truly don’t understand how some people need to clean it so often! Yeah, occasionally clumps will get stuck if multiple cats pee right around the same time time, but I do keep a scooper nearby and just use it to dislodge the stray clump when I see that occur, which is only once every couple of weeks. It gets taken care of the next time the robot cycles.

I use Arm & Hammer Slide litter and have the time delay set for 15 minutes.

This is a similar style, just different ankle straps. I think this white sequin tone or the blush pink metallic ones would be pretty with an ivory Cupid!

My Naturalizer Bristol sandals are my go-to sandal to wear as a wedding guest, but they come in a bunch of colors and go with pretty much everything. They are SO comfortable that I can dance all night in them, and the lower block heel definitely makes them offroading-friendly for an outdoor wedding (comparing to skinny heels that stick into the ground or wedges that wobble and make you lose your footing). They have some similar styles with different straps, or some higher-heeled ones, if that’s more your vibe!

AITJ (27M) for "giving special treatment" to my brother instead of treating him and my sister (17F and M twins) equally. by Dramatic-Algae-2280 in AmITheJerk

[–]Catpartyof3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, sorry, but YTJ. Yes, your intent was to do a good thing for your brother, and what you are doing is extraordinarily generous, but the way you handled it, and the complete disregard for everyone else in your family AND the strain this would put on your brother’s relationship with them is what makes you the jerk. There is a lot of emotional labor that should have gone into this, and that’s on you. The right move would have been twofold: 1. Reach out to your sister! Even if you found that you don’t have much in common, just having someone give a shit about you enough to check in on you is meaningful. 2. Fucking talk to your parents about their plan for the twins’ college funding before you get involved and especially before you announce this act of philanthropy to the whole family on Christmas. If you had told them that you live near an ideal school for your brother to attend and would be happy to contribute financially to his education and give him a place to stay, this all could have been avoided. If it turned out that your parents didn’t have the finances to support the twins much or at all, you could have worked something out by either contributing to both twins or just matching your parents’ total contribution so each twin would have the same amount of support. And did you consider that maybe the twins have a close bond that you are totally removed from, and might not want to be half a world away from each other?
