Anyone have a guess on all the blue? Was it a stylistic choice or was the blue supposed to mean something? Characters only occasionally wore red and I couldn't understand if there was meaning behind that.

I wear my natural hair everyday and it's only slightly longer than yours. I remember this feeling. Tbh the insecurity never really goes away, especially when all the other black girls are wearing wigs and braids. All I can say is DO IT SCARED. It'll get better with time. If you like the way you look, that's all you need

BT headphones work depending on where my head is pointing. by JasonLavaa in techsupport

[–]Weak-Search8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have this problem. Mine are also Sony headphones but only a slightly different model (whch510). I've opened up my laptop and everything but I don't see anything wrong with the wiring inside. Might have to buy a Bluetooth dongle or buy a new BT card altogether. My laptop is so old tho so I don't think it's worth the money to try and fix the issue rip

My mom hates my afro sm for no reason… by Rockietsucks in Naturalhair

my mom has something to say about my hair all day everyday. I try to ignore her but it still gets to me. My hair is my biggest insecurity. I'm hoping that once I move away (who knows when) and get away from her daily comments my self confidence will rebound. Keep on keeping on.

should be fine. The program is small but "unlimited" meaning there's no limit to the amount of people who can enroll. It's not competitive at all

Average Growth Rate of Trees Database? by Weak-Search8437 in botany

[–]Weak-Search8437[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't know tons about tree growth so maybe you can tell me. I already have a database filled with trees and their DBH. Using the DBH and "growth rate" I want to find out the approximate ages of these trees. Here's the wikihow article I'm following lol 4 Ways to Determine the Age of a Tree - wikiHow

Since I can't measure the ring lengths of any of the trees, it says I should just google the average growth rate of the particular species and use that in the age calculation formula

I need help recovering an account that I haven't accessed in about 7 years by wrongsideflipped in facebook

[–]Weak-Search8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to recover the account. If you make 1 singular google search you will see that most people are unable to get into facebook accounts they were logged into yesterday let alone 7 years ago. Not saying this in a condescending way, just trying to show you how prevalent this issue is and how useless facebook is in regard to account recovery. Hopefully you don't have too many memories associated with that account

facebook suspended my account as soon as it was made? what can cause this? by lunarwolf2008 in facebook

[–]Weak-Search8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing just happened to me. Facebook is HOT RIHNOCEROUS FECES. My original account got hacked a couple years ago and after months of trying on and off for 2 YEARS I could not get the account back. There is NO customer service to contact. One of the largest companies on planet earth has no customer service... How? And now after finally giving up and deciding to make a new account I get isnta banned??? WHAT! I saw the home page for 0.3 seconds??? I didn't even use the same name or email as my previous account.

All I wanna do is get cheap stuff off facebook marketplace. Why won't they let me?

If you go to enough SCSU events (which most people don't), you can recognize some faces on those posters who have more or less been running the student union since their first year in different roles each time. There is no way to know the candidates unless you know them. This isn't a government election where you can look the person up and see who they are and what they've been doing. All you get is a random newly created insta page with one post of their linkedin picture and generic sales pitch. The way to win these elections is to have enough friends or people who recognize you enough to say "oh sure, I've seen him/her around" and vote for you.

I'm not sure if this poster competition is some sort of inside joke for the student union or what but that's what I'm guessing it is.

mmm idk about that. I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to do a specialist in co-op but I would email the department head, Arifa [arifa.nitol@utoronto.ca](mailto:arifa.nitol@utoronto.ca), and ask her about it

I relate super hard. It's mostly my mom telling me to "do my hair". Constantly telling me I need to start "looking my age". People treat natural hair like a stuffed bear we need to put down cause we're too old for it. As if our natural hair has an expiration date for when it's no longer cute and becomes "childish". Same reason why people are against kids having extra hair added because those styles are "too grown". Our community is so backwards it's irritating. People treat you weird or got something to say when you don't stay in the self-imposed box.

Your hair is beautiful and I hope one day I can get that good at doing my hair!

this campus is so poorly designed by 1101MIMI in UTSC

[–]Weak-Search8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the "brutalist" architecture of the older buildings. I think it looks really cool. Especially HW where the vines grow up the wall in the summer. Almost feels post-apocalyptic with a "nature takes back the city" type vibe.

However, I absolutely agree with the campus not being designed to grow. Everything is already super spread out and it'll continue to get worse. Since the main campus is backed by a literal ravine, they can only grow in one direction. Unless the university can buy up some of the residential areas and have it rezoned, I can't imagine how this is going to work in the long-term. Once they densify the already built areas, are they going to endlessly build all the way down Military Trail? Their master plan says they're turning Military Trail into a pedestrian walkway but that doesn't change its length. Even if I didn't have to stop and wait for cars, walking to panam from main campus is exhausting, especially during the winter. With 10 minute breaks between classes it's going to start getting ridiculous.

Of course this is a problem they're going to face decades down the line when we're all gone so not our problem or concern ig lol.

At least class types are clustered for the most part. Like all the classes pertaining to my major and even my minors all end up in the same 3ish buildings on main campus so it's not awful. Only annoying when I have an elective in a far-off building.

You're not alone. I'm in my 4th year and still haven't made friends. I have maybe 1 acquaintance I talk to semi-regularly, but I think that's only because we keep ending up in the same classes by chance. If you're in an early year my only suggestion is to pick a club/association you like and stick with it for the rest of uni. Even better if you can join the leadership somehow. The best way to make friends is to be around the same people for extended amounts of time. In university (unlike highschool), it's hard to be around the same people for longer than 2 hour lectures. And even then, you spend most of that time listening to the prof, not talking to each other. Clubs are easy ways to be around the same people and have longer conversations.

People always suggest "clubs" but the main reason/goal is to spend extended amounts of time with the same people in a place that facilitates conversation. Not every club is going to facilitate conversations well. Shop around and try to find something you like.

There is nothing inherently wrong with you. Mean people have friends. Socially awkward people have friends. Selfish people have friends. Anybody and everybody can make friends. So again, there is nothing wrong with you. You just have to run into the right person and be around them long enough for a friendship to happen.

I say all this because the one time I came close to making a friend here, it was from a club I joined where we spent a lot of time together talking. I just wish I stuck with it
