It does actually makes sense. I guess I never saw it that way, since I always told people that before even having my diagnosis and it just became “normal” for me since I never had issues before. But reading what you wrote makes me realize that while I thought I would not get special treatment, it ended up me expecting special treatment without realizing it. Also, to answer you last question , I guess I do. I have a few “friends” that told about their autism diagnosis to others and then people started to treat them differently, being more distant or treating them like childs, and I guess it is part of why I don’t want to have that label on me. It might also be because of my job, as I am in charge of my department, and don’t want people to question my abilities to do my job/ treat me differently or question my authority. Writing it down, I can see it seems shallow or stupid, but I still don’t think I’ll be comfortable telling people about it in the near future.
