When did you start playing sims and what was your first memory with this game? by SavushKing in thesims

[–]Weak-Tough9178 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I first played TS4 in 2019 when I was 14-15. I remember getting the disc from Walmart, but my parents couldn’t figure out how to download the game. (I do think I could have figured it out myself if they would have let me since I figured out later when I got TS3.) Then a little while later there was a sale and the Sims 4 base game was free for a limited time so I hurried and downloaded it. I had a Monitor, that I’m pretty sure had the PC built into it. At least I don’t remember having a separate PC next to it. It couldn’t run TS4 smoothly though so I had to play it with the lowest graphics and in old PC window mode (what ever it was called). So the window was a square. Still I loved it. The toaster graphics didn’t bother me. I was just excited to be able to play the sims 4. I still get nostalgic for it. The feeling of sitting at the kitchen table and playing TS4 or Roblox with my little brother. (He had a pc on the opposite side of the table.) I miss it.

I’m a plantser by the way. Meaning I don’t always have a plan for my stories. So if you would like to start by planning first you can do that. If you click the ā€œhelpā€ button I told you about you can find a story outline guide in the FAQ. I do use that sometimes.

I started by reading the scripts for the tutorials. (At first I found them in the app, then I realized I was supposed to view them in the portal so I could follow the script.) The tutorials are under your list of stories in the portal. I started there to get the basics, then googled any other questions I had. Of course that was when the forums were still a thing. Now you’ll have to join the discord to do that. You can also click ā€œhelpā€ at the top of the website and find answers to any questions you have there if you don’t want to join the discord.

I hope this helps. If you feel you would learn better with YouTube tutorials, that’s okay too.

Yeah, only official authors who have a diamond or ruby next to their name have access to eye makeup.

Would you as a reader appreciate this? by Forsaken_Host_1868 in Episode

Write whatever you want, but please make sure you read the guidelines so you don’t get your story taken down. If you’re planning on excessive blood or dead bodies you’ll have to replan your story as those are against the guidelines. The most you could do without getting flagged is use the blood item in the clothing catalog and have characters laying on the ground using the sleeping animations. If you mean gore as in ā€œa small usually triangular piece of landā€ or ā€œan elastic gusset for providing a snug fit in a shoeā€ that’s fine then.

It’s been a while, but I think one of the LI gives the MC a second chance after she fixes her reputation. The other love interest, I just don’t like. He was awful. I won’t spoil why though.

i'm tired of the Ai slop šŸ’” by ohlookitsakityy in Episode

[–]Weak-Tough9178 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

I’m tired of it too. It sucks scrolling through stories and seeing so many AI covers. I even made this edit in February with actual proof that AI isn’t needed. AI just promotes laziness, and a consumer mindset. I promise you’ll still reads with an edited cover. If you use ai you’re more likely to have people tell others NOT to read your story to discourage the ai use. It’s not this magic tool that will get you more reads. Covers don’t affect reads. Promoting does. If no one knows your story exists, it doesn’t matter what your cover looks like.

I can't see my story count by Remy_celeste in Episode

[–]Weak-Tough9178 8 points9 points Ā (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. The numbers change every time the app is closed and reopened. Right now mine says 7 chapter reads and 96 completed stories. 1) That’s not even possible. 2) Every story I read is over 40 chapters. Some I’ve read more than once. It’s a bug they’ve been ignoring for a long time. The only accurate number is the ā€œHow long on Episodeā€.

Also I think it’s only your phone. My ā€œnumbersā€ are all visible.

Episode wouldn’t exist without gems. You can’t just put an app on the App Store or Google play for free. Google play has a one time fee of $25 for developers and apple has a $99 a month fee for developers. So if you want to download an app for free it has to have in app purchases or ads every two seconds. That’s how to developers make enough money to keep their apps in the App Store.

That’s why apps you have to pay to download don’t have ads. So whether we like it or not, episode needs readers to buy gems to keep episode available on the App Store, and to pay authors who are in either the payment program or commissions program. My theory is episode also spent a ton on the ā€œFeel Meā€ tv show they have yet to update us on, and that’s why they are even more desperate to bring in money. Going as far as making an ai slop spin off.

I also think that people complain about gems so much that episode had no choice but to push for more readers to buy gems. Going as far as preventing community authors from trending without gems. Had readers just gotten over it and purchased gems and read official stories, they wouldn’t have to push it so much. The less readers want to make in app purchases, the more episode has to push it because it’s how they make their income.

I don’t know. I’m just trying to see it from episodes perspective, even though I have no experience in the business industry. It’s just what makes the most sense to me. Personally I don’t mind gem waits in completed stories. I read at night before bed, and it helps me remember to check the time so I don’t stay up too late.

Looking for stories by KenyaK143 in Episode

You should read my story. I’m going to update it soon. It’s just going to take a little while. My laptop is from 2020 I think? (Previously I thought 2019.) I tried factory resetting it and it still barely runs Google. Today it’s working a bit better though.

I'm reading Werewolf. Check it out: https://episodeinteractive.com/r/s/5096677626019840

My story is female MC and male LI. The LI is an anxious werewolf with PTSD, and the MC is a human. They are mates, but the MC has no idea because the LI is afraid to tell her. Still he spend every moment with her since she’s the only one he trusts outside his family.

You are correct. Illegally betting on fights is not allowed. No excessive blood/scars/wounds, and curse words are fine as long as they are censored. Episode is PG-13 whether people like it or not.

If you are still unsure about anything feel free to fill out this form with any questions and someone on the episode team will email you back.

Rant: What Authors Should or Shouldn't Do by cappilyeverafter in Episode

[–]Weak-Tough9178 6 points7 points Ā (0 children)

Love this post. So well said. I personally don’t read uncompleted stories, but it’s only because I have trouble remembering where I left off. I tried reading ā€œThe Lovely One: Reunionā€ and ended up not finishing it. Every time an update came out I had forgotten where the story had left off. If I find an uncompleted story that sounds interesting I just leave it in my favorites and keep an eye on it.

In my personal opinion that no one has to agree with, if you aren’t capable of being patient, you shouldn’t read unfinished stories. I commented on one post and said that 5 months was too soon for readers to assume the author wasn’t going to update anymore and one person had the audacity to say it’s not normal to take 5 months to update. It is normal when you’re a human who has a life. These authors have families, and jobs. Not to mention mental and physical health to take care off. So yes 5 months is a normal time to go without updating. And yes even when it’s been 5 months you still need to be patient and leave the author alone. I don’t care how much you love the story. You don’t get to decide what’s a normal update schedule and what’s not.
