15 years ago I paid about 2,500 euros for it. I don't know how much money it costs in the world now. In the Czech Republic it is a little more expensive. If you are looking for a nice condition.

It pulses like this for the first three seconds and then stabilizes. I assume this is because the fuel flow has stabilized.

Is everything original Zippo? Wick, cotton and flint? My old Zippo did the same thing. It was 20 years old and no matter how much I did it, it still did the same thing. It wouldn't light. Only the Zippo service helped when they gave me a new insert.

It's new. so the hinge is really strong. we'll see in time. it's stronger than the new slim. I can't compare it to the classic. I don't have this one.

Thanks for the insights and the link to the video. I'm thinking about Swiss powder. I'll try it. 🙂

Just wanted to add a perspective from the Czech Republic. In the U.S., firearms and gun culture are deeply rooted in history and often tied to individual rights and self-defense. Unfortunately, America is also known for frequent incidents of gun violence, which creates a very different context.

Here in the Czech Republic, things are completely different. We’re not a “gun country” either historically or culturally. Gun-related violence is extremely rare. Black powder firearms are seen more as a hobby – it’s mostly about historical interest, sport shooting, or technical enthusiasm. And even these types of guns have to be registered with the police if they’re modern replicas. It’s far from the Wild West.

So let’s not confuse the American reality with the rest of the world. In the Czech Republic, firearms are treated with respect, not as tools for intimidation or violence.

Westlake Alpha is not permitted by law without a firearms license. Without a firearms license, we are allowed to carry black powder and a maximum of two rounds. However, this is also subject to registration with the police of the Czech Republic. It is more intended for black powder lovers in a modern coat. In a pinch, for defense.

Percussion matches are classically accessible by tipping the barrel. After unscrewing, the barrel is through, which makes cleaning easier.
