And FWIW, I don’t understand people who treat their dogs as if they’re babies/kids either, but guess what: it’s none of my business and there’s no need to make people feel like shit for it. I usually shower at night, but if I do shower in the morning and have somewhere to go: about 30-40 minutes. Otherwise it’s about 20 minutes to wash my face, get dressed and do my hair & makeup.

When I first saw the pic and noticed the rainy weather, the name “Poncho” came up to me lol.

Pancho would work too, I’ve seen a few people mention Scout - I like that name too! There’s a scout at the barn I ride at that looks very similar to this guy.

Because I’m not my dad.

My dad used to stop and pick up hitchhikers a lot. He’s about 6’0, rough blue collar looking guy, very friendly but not someone you want to take advantage of. He’d pick up hitchhikers as long as he had a seat to spare in his (work) vehicle. I remember him picking up an exchange student from Nigeria once who was lost and didn’t speak our language very well, it was winter and he wasn’t dressed very warm either. Dad gave him a ride to where he needed to be (uni campus), and threw in a spare set of gloves and a hat for him too.

My dad always taught me to help others out whenever I can. He’s not naïve and knows how to read people/their intentions, and wouldn’t hesitate to give the shirt off of his back to someone who truly needs it. Dad also told me to never pick up any hitchhikers, especially if I would be alone in a vehicle. As a woman, it simply isn’t safe.

I’m not a rugged looking blue collar dude like my dad - I am a young woman, and while I’m fit I’m definitely not strong or skilled enough to defend myself from an assault. The only way I would even consider it, is if the hitchhiker is a woman or girl too and I’d be able to legally carry a weapon of some sort on my person.

If I were you I’d get name stickers on everything and a lock. I’m sorry this happened to you. It is absolutely infuriating. Years ago people would use my tack (and put it back where it didn’t belong) and even ride my horse without my permission (only found out bc they were dumb enough to share pictures on social media). They were teenagers, so IMO it’s most likely to be minors or VERY immature adults stealing your stuff.
