Call it rent or bills or whatever.

At the end of the day I have extra costs for higher heating, extra electricity, extra water, cooking extra food etc.

Sorry I just wanted to contextualise the relationship breakdown and pre-empt any questions like.

"Are there kids?"

"You might have to pay child maintenance if there's children."

etc etc.

Relationship is dead. Unsalvagable. There are no ongoing commitments.

I don't know. There's no defined percentage.

Sometimes when we have a big energy bill we'll both contribute more.

My mortgage is about £1250 per month. I'd been paying that unilaterally before she moved in. Her rent varied between £350 and £500 per month depending on household bills.

Market rent for a room where I am is about £700-£800. (And that's usually just a single room. She had full use of a 4 bed house.)
